Lady Gaga has returned with a new song, “Perfect Illusion.” Listen to it below. The track was co-produced by Gaga alongside Mark Ronson, Kevin Parker of Tame Impala, and Grimes/Justin Bieber/Madonna collaborator Bloodpop (formerly known as Blood Diamonds).
Gaga made headlines last month when she made a surprise appearance at the end of Tame Impala’s set at FYF Festival in Los Angeles.
“The song is about modern ecstasy… We found our sweet, simple, rage-y way of saying it,” Gaga said of the song during an appearance at New York City’s iHeartRadio Music Summit in August. “I get this sick adrenaline rush every time I hear it.”
In addition to Ronson, Parker, and BloodPop, producers confirmed to have written or recorded songs for the album with Gaga include Giorgio Moroder, Diane Warren, Nile Rodgers, and RedOne.
“It’s up to her: It’s her album, it’s her creative process, it’s her world, and I’ll be happy for her whatever way she takes it,” RedOne, who helped produce some of the biggest hits of Gaga’s career, including “Alejandro” and “Bad Romance,” previously told PEOPLE of Gaga’s new album, for which the pair recorded eight tracks together. “It’s a mixture of classic music and futuristic, too – I didn’t want to go too far from what she is. We kept it [similar to] what Gaga is, what she’s done all these years. It’s special.”
“Perfect Illusion” is available on iTunes, and listen to a preview of the song below from Spotify.
