During Sunday’s red carpet for the 68th annual Emmy Awards, Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner showed off the matching tattoo she got with friend and costar Maisie Williams last week.
The tattoo, as many speculated, is the date “07.08.09,” which marked the moment both actresses found out they were cast on the HBO series.
“We’ve always kind of said we wanted matching tattoos,” Turner told E! on the red carpet, adding she had plans to get matching tattoos with cast members since season 1. What spurred Turner and Williams, who play Sansa and Arya Stark on the series, to get tattoos now? “We don’t know if we’re going to make it, so Maisie and I were like let’s get these ones before anyone kills us,” she joked.
As for what to expect from season 7 of Game of Thrones, Turner teased that she was left “speechless” by the scripts. “This season is unbelievable,” she said. “I think fans are going to be really satisfied.”
Game of Thrones could make Emmys history on Sunday night. If it wins three awards, the drama will overtake Frasier as the most decorated show in Emmys history.
