Taraji P. Henson is searchin’ for that real love.
The Empire star has revealed why she has stayed unmarried for so long, despite being linked to hotties like Tyrese Gibson and football player Kelvin Hayden.
"If I was going to get married, it had to be for love, because I wanted [my son] Marcell to see that real kind of love — the kind I yearn for,” she tells Redbook magazine.
Although Cookie and Lucious Lyon show their love by scheming and screaming, Taraji wants something a little different.
“That old couple crooked and bent over but still holding hands,” she adds of her dream relationship. “I know that kind of love exists and I'm not going to stop until I have that."
Although the FOX actress is proud she won’t give up until she meets her soulmate, she does admit raising her son Marcell, now 22, solo was difficult.
“We can do it all, but I wouldn't wish being a single parent on my worst enemy,” she admits. “It is not easy."
The Lyon matriarch dropped some more knowledge on parenting, saying, “Sometimes we try to protect our children so much that when something doesn't go right in their lives, they're unprepared to deal with adversity.
“I don't think that does our kids any favors."
Let’s see if Cookie can try the step-back method this season on Empire. (We doubt it.)
