What Was It Like Dating and Breaking Up With Taylor Swift? Her Ex-Boyfriends Speak up

Perhaps we all are too hard on Taylor Swift when it concerns her love life. We all monitor her romances with a microscope and we all seem to think we're experts. But, what's it like to actually date and subsequently break up with singer? We'll, let the men who have actually dated Taylor tell you a little about it...

Joe Jonas and Taylor Swift were young love personified for four months in 2008 and then he reportedly broke up with her over voicemail. In 2015 he spoke about his one-time love and the woman who wrote "Always and Forever" about him. "I think we're friends," Joe said. "In this industry, you meet a lot of people and you stay in touch. Obviously it's tough to be friends with people when you're always constantly traveling, but yeah, we're cool."

Taylor Swift has written plenty of songs about Harry Styles, ie. "I Knew You Were Trouble," Style," and "Out of the Woods," to name a few. They dated a few months, but continued to have run ins. In 2014, he helped write a song for duo Alex and Sierra. It had plenty of references to Taylor. "I fell in love with a beautiful girl. And she still takes my breath away. I fell in love in the morning sun while the hours slipped away. Sometimes when I hear your name, a smile creeps on my face." He later says, "And I know that it sounds so wrong. And you've heard all this before. I didn't come back and I wasn't there. I won't trouble you no more." Trouble, did you catch that reference?

When Taylor Swift dated Taylor Lautner in 2009, fans commonly referred to them as "Taylor Squared." The romance didn't last long, only about four months. Taylor (Lautner, that is) was asked about the 1989 singer by John Stamos in August 2016. "It was a good time," he said, while confirming that "Back to December" was written about him. "It was a fun few months there."

For four months in late 2009 and early 2010, John Mayer and Taylor Swift were a thing. Then they weren't. And then, as she often does, she wrote a song about him called "Dear John." It was scathing. He told Rolling Stone in 2012 he was "really humiliated" when he heard the dis track. "It made me feel terrible," he said. "Because I didn't deserve it. I'm pretty good at taking accountability now, and I never did anything to deserve that. It was a really lousy thing for her to do." He later said, "I never got an e-mail. I never got a phone call. I was really caught off-guard, and it really humiliated me at a time when I'd already been dressed down. I mean, how would you feel if, at the lowest you've ever been, someone kicked you even lower?"

The romance between Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston was on fire when it started. The world first learned of this after they were photographed kissing on rocks in summer 2016. They were together for more than three months. A few weeks before splitting in early September 2016, Tom spoke to the Hollywood Reporter about what it was like to be with her. "We all live in a world where every phone has a camera and there's nothing new, really, about the spotlight on me. I think that's what happens when you're a public figure," he said. "What have I learned about it? I've learned to—I don't know, maybe it's too soon to tell. Um, I've learned that there are many sides to a story, and that sometimes there are a lot of stories out there which are false, and the hardest thing is to try to not let those falsehoods affect your own life. That's what I would say."

Many people thought Taylor Swift had found "the one" when she met deejay Calvin Harris. They didn't deny the romance, kissing at award shows and turning up on each other's social media pages. Taylor once called the relationship "magical" at once point. The couple lasted 15 months. "She's fantastic! She knows when it's time to leave me for a bit on my own. Before the show," Calvin told KISS FM in April 2016. "She's super encouraging and she kind of gets her vibe going with other people as well, you know. She can even cheer up my manager, which is an unbelievable feat! So it's fantastic having her around." After their split, though, he told British GQ, "It's very difficult when something I consider so personal plays out very publicly. The aftermath of the relationship was way more heavily publicized than the relationship itself."
