How You Can Die From Oversleeping

Bad news, bed kings and queens! Sleeping can kill! Bum bum bum.

The new study from the University of Sydney has a surprising finding for those of us who hate to get out of our beds: Regular oversleeping can have adverse health effects. In addition to the regular taboos of drinking too much, smoking, eating poorly, and too much sitting, researchers have found that sleeping more than nine hours a day can have some pretty scary side effects.

Over a six-year period, regular oversleeping meant a 44 percent increased risk of death. Surprisingly, sleeping less than seven hours a day meant a 9 percent increased mortality risk. So sleeping less is better than sleeping more. At least according to this study today. Who knows about tomorrow!
