Virginia State University on lockdown after shooting, police say


The campus at Virginia State University (VSU) in Petersburg, Virginia, is on lockdown after a shooting occurred Saturday night, police say.
VSU police posted a message on Twitter updating the community to say that the scene is still active and urged people to avoid the area:
Shooting on Campus Update - Police scene still active and the campus remains on lockdown. Continue to avoid area.
CBS affiliate WTVR-TV in Richmond, Virginia, writes that a possible suspect is described as a black male wearing a white jersey with a blue number 23.
This is homecoming weekend at VSU, WTVR-TV adds, and that a hip-hip concert was scheduled Saturday night at the campus.
