PARENTING: Mom shamed for breastfeeding at Disneyland serves up the *perfect* punishment

At what’s supposed to be the happiest place on Earth, one California mom and her husband recently had a less than magical experience.

Brittni Medina decided to breastfeed her 10-month-old son, Micah, while waiting in line to get their family photo taken at the park. It makes perfect sense: Babies need to be fed, women are fully capable of multi-tasking, and who wants to lose their place in a snaking line just because their kid is hungry?

That’s when she started hearing snide remarks coming from behind her, says Medina, with a few women saying they thought she should just move out of the line and nurse the baby in a bathroom.

So Medina did move….just enough to the side, so that her husband could capture the scowling haters in a photo, which she promptly posted to Facebook last week.

“My husband got them so good—mid-complaining!” Medina tells CafeMom. “I love [the photo] because it shows I’m happy and proud to feed my baby in a crowd! He’s happy, my husband and I were happy. It’s sad how people get so bothered.”

To her satisfaction, Medina’s Facebook post was met with plenty of moms who voiced support and praise for her confidence and her steadfast commitment to tending to her child, and we agree!

Plus, it doesn’t matter what you’re wearing; whether you’re in a tank top like Medina or happen to be draped with a blanket, breastfeeding should be normalized and supported by everyone.

Just like Medina wrote at the end of her caption: “NO WOMEN SHOULD BE SHAMED FOR FEEDING THEIR BABY UNCOVERED.”
