Christopher Reeve is known to many as the original Superman and for good reason. His iconic portrayal of the famous superhero back in 1978 is what has caused a number of viewers to forever associate him with the role. Fortunately, these rugged good looks have since been passed down to the next generation. Reeve may have passed away when his son Will was still young, but his legacy will certainly continue to live on.
Will’s mother Dana passed away not long after Christopher. The boy was raised by friends of the family in the years that followed. Will is now 25 years old and he is not someone who prides himself on spending time in the public eye. He is currently pursuing a career in sports news broadcasting. After making a couple of recent public appearances, he has received a fair amount of attention.
This is because the young man is an absolute dead ringer for his late father. He is now a member of the ESPN family and works across all of the sports broadcasting giant’s platforms. Sports mean the world to Will because they were a way for him to bond with his dad. If they weren’t watching the game, they were playing. If they weren’t watching or playing, they were talking about it.
Christopher’s last day on this planet was spent at one of Will’s hockey games. While Christopher does have other children, none of them resemble him as strongly as Will does. We are used to seeing Superman file his reports for the Daily Planet. We think we can get used to seeing Superman filing reports on behalf of the worldwide leader in sports, though.
The video below offers us a chance to see Christopher in action one last time. No one ever quite wore the blue tights like he did. There is also a theory that has been making the rounds in Hollywood circles about a “Superman curse”. To find out more about this curse and how it has struck down a number of people involved with the franchise, you’ll want to check out the clip.
We are glad that Will did not see fit to follow in his father’s footsteps. We are sure that he is still making his father very proud regardless of his career choice. He is living a much safer existence than he would have otherwise. Will’s path is definitely one that his father can be happy with.
