An inquest has opened after a boy was found frozen to death outside his uncle’s house in Birmingham.
No relatives of Hakeem Hussain, 7, turned up at the inquest at Birmingham Coroner’s Court yesterday.
Hakeem died outside the house in Cook Street, Nechells.
His mother, Laura Heath, 35, and great uncle, Timothy Busk, 56, have both been arrested for suspected neglect.
Coroner’s investigator Sylvia Mole said Hansen lived in Long Acre, Nechells, but was found at the Cook Street address where he was pronounced dead at 7.40am on November 26.
A post-mortem examination had proved inconclusive and further tests were being carried out to ascertain how he died, however he is believed to have suffered cardiac arrest as a result of hypothermia.
Area Coroner Emma Brown said because a criminal investigation was ongoing she could not set a date for the full inquest.
She adjourned it until January 26 next year for an inquest review.
Ambulance crews were called to the house in Cook Street at 7.30am on November 26.
But despite the efforts of paramedics, Hakeem was declared dead at the scene.

The schoolboy may have been in near-freezing temperatures outdoors for some time before an ambulance was called.
Hakeem had attended nearby Nechells Primary Academy.
Both his mother and great-uncle have been bailed while police continue to investigate.
