He's just undertaken his first-ever UK interview as America's premier.
And, rather predictably, Donald Trump chose to be grilled by Good Morning Britain's Piers Morgan.
However, it probably wasn't his tough line of questioning that appealed to the 71-year-old leader of the free world.
Instead, it would've been the chance of a kinder cross-examination.
See, the two men have long enjoyed a 'bromance' which has played-out in the media. So, with that in mind, what's the backstory with their friendship?

It all started when Piers took part in The Celebrity Apprentice 2008, which, back then, was headed by Trump.
Piers made it to the final, and eventually won, with Trump telling him: "Piers, you were tactless, ruthless, aggressive, hard, possibly brilliant, you knocked them all out one by one - you win."
From that moment a bond was made - and it remains to be broken. Partly, Morgan says, because they are so similar.

Specifically, they both like to win and succeed, especially against the odds.
However, this love-in hasn't always gone down well with Morgan's wife, Celia Walden, who has looked-on from the sidelines.
According to an interview in GQ , she isn't always "too happy" with the set-up - to the extent where Piers once chided her about it, saying she should be more "opportunistic".
Referring to an invite they both received for a reception dinner in Washington D.C., he clarified: "My exact response was, 'Do you really want to turn down dinner at the White House, because the way you're going I'll get you struck off the list.'"
Needless to say, they both attended and forged a deeper connection with Trump and Melania. That said, Morgan isn't afraid to criticise his stateside pal.

When he infamously re-tweeted posts by Britain First, Morgan blasted back: “Good morning, Mr President @realDonaldTrump—what the hell are you doing retweeting a bunch of unverified videos by Britain First, a bunch of disgustingly racist far-right extremists?
"Please STOP this madness & undo your retweets.”
He's also publicly slammed him over gun control and once referred to him as "paranoid" when he commented “no politician in history has been treated worse or more unfairly,” RE: the Russia probe.
Impressively, considering their combined egos were at the core of these clashes, the friendship survived.

See, while much of their connection is formed around success and winning, they've similarly shared low-times, too.
When Piers' US show with US network CNN was canned - dealing a brutal blow to Morgan - he admits Trump was a source of loyal support when others fled.
"Lots of people were done with me, not him, he kept calling," he said.
So maybe there is something genuine there after all...
