The US Army has released this photo of Sgt. 1st Class Mihail Golin who died on New Year’s Day in Afghanistan from injuries he sustained in combat. He was born in Latvia and moved to the U.S. in 2004. Months later, he enlisted in the Army. He previously served in Iraq and this was his third deployment to Afghanistan.
