Michelle Obama reveals she suffered a 'devastating' miscarriage and that she and Barack Obama had marriage counselling

From the outside, Michelle and Barack Obama have it all. An eight-year run in the White House, two successful careers,  two beautiful daughters and a loving marriage.

However, Michelle is here to let you know that nothing is ever as perfect as it seems.
In a new interview with Good Morning America, the 54-year-old revealed that she and her husband used IVF to conceive her children after suffering a devastating miscarriage.

In addition, she confessed she and Barack had been through marriage counseling, and spoke out about her true feelings on President Donald Trump, branding him a "misogynist" who made her "body buzz with fury".
The former lawyer told host Robin Roberts that losing the baby 20 years ago had left her feeling "lost and alone", adding that women need to know that miscarriages are incredibly common.
"I felt like I failed because I didn’t know how common miscarriages were because we don’t talk about them," she said, "We sit in our own pain, thinking that somehow we’re broken. That’s one of the reasons why I think it’s important to talk to young mothers about the fact that miscarriages happen... I think it’s the worst thing that we do to each other as women, not share the truth about our bodies and how they work."
When she was 34, the former First Lady realised that "the biological clock is real," and "egg production is limited". Soon after, the couple turned to IVF, finally acknowledging they "had to do" it.

This fertility treatment eventually led to the couple conceiving their two daughters, Malia, 20, and Sasha, 17.
Michelle - who was on GMA to promote her new memoir, Becoming - also opened up about her marriage, admitting that, although she and Barack often seem like the ideal couple from the outside, this isn't always the case.
The pair underwent marriage counseling when they hit a rocky patch in the past, something that the mother-of-two thoroughly recommends.
"Marriage counseling for us was one of those ways where we learned how to talk out our differences," she explained. "I know too many young couples who struggle and think that somehow there’s something wrong with them. And I want them to know that Michelle and Barack Obama, who have a phenomenal marriage and who love each other, we work on our marriage. And we get help with our marriage when we need it."

Michelle's new book delves into the turbulent world of American politics, with the former FLOTUS making her feelings on President Trump perfectly clear.
In the memoir, the 54-year-old accuses him of putting her family in danger, naming the former businessman's unfounded claims that her husband was secretly a foreign-born Muslim as "crazy and mean-spirited" with an undercurrent of "bigotry and xenophobia hardly concealed."
"But it was also dangerous, deliberately meant to stir up the wingnuts and kooks," she writes. "What if someone with an unstable mind loaded a gun and drove to Washington? What if that person went looking for our girls? Donald Trump, with his loud and reckless innuendos, was putting my family’s safety at risk. And for this, I’d never forgive him."

Furthermore, she speaks out about Trump's now-infamous "grab her by the p***y" moment, claiming her "body buzzed with fury after hearing it".
She names the former reality TV star a "misogynist," comparing him to his rival Hillary Clinton, who she calls "an exceptionally-qualified female candidate."
Michelle Obama’s full interview will air on ABC at 9PM EST Sunday.
