Jimmy Kimmel took aim at Bill Cosby on Sunday at the Emmys.
Returning from a commercial break, the show’s announcer indicated Cosby was coming out on stage. The camera then cut to audience reaction shots from Ellie Kemper and Tina Fey among others.
Cosby didn’t come out, of course; instead, Kimmel walked on stage to explain the stunt. “He’s not really here, I just wanted to see what you guys would do,” Kimmel said, as the audience laughed.
The 78-year-old Cosby will stand trial next year for allegedly sexually assaulting Andrea Constand at his home in 2004. More than 50 women have accused Cosby of sexual assault.
