Melania Trump's plane forced to land after 'haze of smoke' spotted

A plane carrying Melania Trump was forced to land after a "haze of smoke" was spotted on board, according to US media reports.

Around 10 minutes after takeoff from Joint Base Andrews in Maryland, journalists travelling with the First Lady saw Secret Service agents head to the front of the plane.

The reports say a thin haze of smoke could be seen and there was a smell of burning.

Members of the press were brought towels and told to hold them over their faces if the smell became too strong.

The plane landed at Andrews Air Force Base after diverting back due to a "mechanical issue".

Mrs Trump's spokeswoman Stephanie Grisham said "everyone is fine and everyone is safe" following the incident.

It is not clear what caused the problem on the aircraft, a Boeing C-32A identified as "Bright Star."

Mrs Trump had been scheduled to visit a Philadelphia hospital and meet with families of children affected by exposure to opioids while in the womb.

She was scheduled to speak at a conference on a new system that tracks infants suffering from opiate withdrawal.

The visit was to be one of her stops as she promotes her "Be Best" campaign, which focuses on issues affecting children, including the importance of healthy pregnancies.

Dazzling Melania Trump sports a $2,000 Celine shirt dress as she lands in Ghana on first solo trip abroad as First Lady,

The First Lady of the United States, Melania Trump, made a stunning arrival in Ghana on October 2 morning, smiling brightly as she was getting off the plane ahead of her first major solo international trip. The 48-year-old FLOTUS looked ultra-modern as she landed at the Kotoka International Airport in Accra, the capital city of Ghana. Melania wore a custom-made Celine shirt dress that is believed to be worth more than $2,000. She was also spotted wearing white Manolo Blahnik heels to complement the candy cane colored shirt dress. The FLOTUS was seen pausing for a brief moment at the top of the plane stairs and waving at the crowd.

She was able to avert what could have been a major wardrobe malfunction when she was walking down the steps as a breeze started blowing, reported Daily Mail. Fortunately, she managed to keep the hem of her dress in check, and nothing untoward happened during her big arrival in the country.

The First Lady looked very refreshed as she walked out of the plane and it looked like she got a pampering session just before she had to make her dramatic exit from the plane. Her beautiful brunette hair was styled into a perfectly natural wave, and her makeup was kept very low-key. She did not have her signature smokey eye look for this visit.
After Melania stepped onto the tarmac of the airport, she was greeted by Rebecca Akufo-Addo, Ghana's first lady and the two women shook hands and spoke for a few minutes. The mother-of-one could be seen placing her hand on Rebecca's arm as they were caught up in the conversation. The FLOTUS was then given a bouquet of flowers by a young Ghanian girl in a traditional dress. Melania then bent down and hugged the girl warmly with one hand while holding the flowers in the other.
Melania has made it very clear that she is very excited that she will be going on a major trip such as this by herself. She could be seen equally happy on October 1 evening when she was setting off from the Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland as the sun was setting. She waved and smiled for the cameras as she was walking towards the plane.

.@FLOTUS boards her plane at Joint Base Andrews for her first solo Foreign trip to Africa. The First Lady begins her trip with a visit to Ghana on Tuesday.
Being the kind of person she is, the FLOTUS looked like she wanted to start off her solo trip in the most stylish way possible by dressing in a $1,695 suede trench coat from Vince and another pair of heels from Manolo Blahnik - a $935 leopard-print stiletto design. To top it all off, Melania wore large sunglasses and had her hair down around her shoulders.
Melania's trip to Africa begins with Accra, Ghana, on October 2 and is reported to continue with stops in Malawi, Kenya, and Egypt. Spokesperson Stephanie Grisham said that that tour is to be a "diplomatic and humanitarian visit" that is to focus on Melania's #BeBest campaign for "children and their well-being."
Grisham spoke to the Daily Caller saying: "[Melania] is hoping to visit the countries to learn what their challenges are, and also see where the US is having a positive impact or results. To that end, our office has been working closely with USAID [the United States Agency for International Development] and each stop will focus on one or more projects they have been working on within each country. The visits will include stops having to do with education, healthcare, some conservation and tourism–and as with all that she does through her initiative Be Best, the well-being of children will be her focus."

Expert analysts have said that the trip also may be used for Melania to try and repair some of the relationships with African leaders who were offended by some comments that President Trump has said in the past. He has made a number of inappropriate comments about the continent including calling some of the countries as "s***holes."
Last week at a press conference, however, Trump changed his comments completely when he was promoting Melania's trip by saying: "We both love Africa. Africa is so beautiful, the most beautiful part of the world, in many ways." In a final tweet, before she took off, Melania wrote: "We are taking off for #Africa! So looking forward to visiting #Ghana #Malawi #Kenya & #Egypt as I take #BeBest international. #FLOTUSinAfrica2018."

A Texas Woman Undergoes 8 Plastic Surgery Procedures Just to Look More Like Melania Trump

A 42-year-old woman from Houston, Texas named Claudia Sierra elected to undergo eight plastic surgeries in order to look more like Melania Trump. In a teaser for her upcoming Inside Edition appearance, Sierra referred to Melania as “the perfect woman,” which sounds eerily like something the First Lady’s husband might say.

Speaking of which, of all the dazzling and wacky plastic surgery transformation options out there (Britney Spears! a cat!), why pick a woman who has definitely had sex with Donald Trump? I ask that already sort of being able to intuit the answer—after all, plenty of women, especially especially white women—voted for him, and some have speculated that Melania and Ivanka’s “plastic” feminism was a contributing factor in allowing those women to feel comfortable voting for a raging misogynist. Melania and Ivanka were objectified, idealized, to help clear a path for Donald Trump to the White House; it’s not surprising some people would internalize that message.

But obviously changing your entire face to resemble the pristine, mask-like face of our First Lady is kind of its own phenomenon, too. The procedures reportedly cost upwards of $50,000, a figure Sierra quibbled with in a recent Facebook post.

Another reason Sierra gives for all the procedures—though it doesn’t account for the Melania-specific obsession—is the desire to feel good about herself again after recently being treated for breast cancer, including receiving a partial mastectomy (her plastic surgery work includes a breast implant reconstruction, according to the Star-Telegram).

Sierra also told the New York Daily News on Wednesday that after her breast cancer treatment, “I was getting rejected by men and it was killing my soul. Nobody was picking me. So I said, ‘let me change everything because I don’t want any part that’s been touched by anyone.’”

Sierra mentions elsewhere in that interview that she had the procedures done for herself and no other, something that people who get cosmetic plastic surgery often say, but it never sounded so downright American as now. By which I mean asserting the rights and the value of the individual, while assuming the visage of the state.

Rosie O’Donnell Apologizes for Barron Trump Autism Tweet: ‘I Am Truly Sorry’

Better late than never? Rosie O’Donnell apologized to Melania Trump on Thursday, December 1, after retweeting a video speculating that her son Barron Trump may have autism.

“I apologize to @melaniatrump - i was insensitive in my RT - i am sorry for the pain i caused - it was not my intent - i am truly sorry,” the former The View cohost tweeted on her now-private social media account.
The comedian, 54, sparked backlash after she retweeted a video suggesting the 10-year-old son of President-Elect Donald Trump has the developmental disorder. “Barron Trump Autistic? If so — what an amazing opportunity to bring attention to the AUTISM epidemic,” O’Donnell wrote on November 21.
Her comment quickly attracted a flood of criticism from Twitter users, who accused the A League of Their Own star of taking her bitter public feud with Trump out on his wife and child. In response, O’Donnell shared a poem about the controversy on her website on November 26, and revealed that her 3-year-old adopted daughter, Dakota, had recently been diagnosed with autism. “when i saw the anti-bullying video / that mentioned barron / it spoke to the symptoms many ASD kids have … 1 in 55 kids is an epidemic/ donald and i agree on that/ and not much else,” the mother-of-five wrote.

The controversial seven-minute clip, which included footage of Barron from Trump’s acceptance speech and campaign events, was compiled by YouTuber James Hunter, who took the video down and issued a formal apology after being faced with the threat of a lawsuit from Melania’s lawyer Charles J. Harder this week.
“I never ever meant this as a bullying video,” Hunter wrote on his YouTube page on November 29. “As someone who was diagnosed at age 5 and has gone through bullying myself, I would NEVER do something like that. I made this because I truly believed Barron was on the spectrum, and I wanted people to stop bullying him of his ‘weird’ behavior and explain to them that it might actually be due to a condition… I never meant to hurt anyone.”

Tom Ford Reveals He Refuses To Dress Melania Trump Years Ago

Designer Tom Ford revealed that he refused to dress Melania Trump years ago.

“I was asked to dress her quite a few years ago and I declined, he explained on Wednesday’s (Nov. 30, 2016) episode of The View. “She’s not necessarily my image.”

“The first lady — other than the fact that I’m a Democrat and voted for Hillary [Clinton]and am very sad and disappointed that she’s not in office — even had Hillary won, she shouldn’t be wearing my clothes. They’re too expensive,” Ford added.

Too expensive? But the FLOTUS-elect is married to a billionaire. “And I don’t mean that in a bad way,” he explained. “[She needs to] relate to everybody.”

So when co-host Joy Behar noted that Ford did dress Michelle Obama, Ford confirmed it was just once for her visit to Buckingham Palace when she meet with the Queen. “That, I thought was appropriate,” the fashion designer said, “and it was an honor.”

Melania Trump Threatens To Sue People Over Barron Autism Youtube Video: Behold Her Lawyer's Statement

UPDATE 11/28 8:48 p.m. ET: The YouTube user who posted the original video speculating that Barron Trump may be autistic is going to remove the video and issue an apology. "I've been in contact with Melania Trump's lawyer," YouTube user James Hunter shared Monday evening. "This video will be deleted in 24 hours and I will publish a full retraction and apology to Melania and Barron Trump." Hunter also revealed via his YouTube page that he meant no harm towards Barron and that he personally suffers from autism.

"I never ever meant this as a bullying video," Hunter wrote. "As someone who was diagnosed at age 5 and has gone through bullying myself, I would NEVER do something like that. I made this because I truly believed Barron was on the spectrum, and I wanted people to stop bullying him over his 'weird' behavior and explain to them that it might actually be due to a condition. ... I have a great respect for [Melania] and her family. I never meant to hurt anyone."

Melania Trump is threatening to sue over the YouTube video that suggests her son, Barron Trump, may be autistic. In a statement to IPRESSTV, Melania’s lawyer Charles J. Harder says the video is a form of harassment and bullying.
“This law firm represents First Lady–elect Melania Trump and her 10-year-old son, Barron Trump. A video was posted at YouTube recently speculating that Barron might be autistic. He is not,” Harder of Harder Mirell & Abrams LLP in Los Angeles tells Us of the seven-minute video, which features footage of Barron from various moments throughout the campaign.
“The video includes the hashtag ‘StopTheBullying’ but yet the video itself is bullying by making false statements and speculation about a 10-year-old boy for the purpose of harassing him and his parents," Harder continues. "The online bullying of children, including Barron Trump, should end now.”
According to TMZ, the law firm also mentioned Rosie O’Donnell in a letter regarding the video, which was shared by the comedian via Twitter November 21. As previously reported, O’Donnell, who has a contentious history with President-elect Donald Trump, tweeted, “Barron Trump Autistic? If so — what an amazing opportunity to bring attention to the AUTISM epidemic,” along with a link to the clip.
After facing backlash online, O’Donnell clarified on her website that she didn’t mean any ill will toward the child and that her own 3-year-old daughter, Dakota, was diagnosed with high-functioning autism this past September. O’Donnell wrote that she only shared the video thinking that if it were true, then it “would help so much with the autism epidemic.”
According to the letter obtained by TMZ, Melania isn’t threatening O’Donnell with a lawsuit; Harder wants the YouTube user who posted the original video to delete it and apologize.

Gigi Hadid Saying 'She is Sorry' For Melania Trump Impression at AMAs

Gigi Hadid has posted an apology after performing an impression of future First Lady Melania Trump during the American Music Awards on Sunday night.
While cohosting the awards show with SNL alum Jay Pharoah, Hadid affected an accent, pouted her lips, and said, “I love my husband, President Barack Obama, and our children, Sasha and Malia.”

The joke, which referenced Melania Trump’s plagiarism of Michelle Obama during her Republican National Convention speech, was criticized on social media, where many accused the supermodel of racism and bullying.
On Monday evening, Hadid shared a handwritten note on Twitter clarifying her intentions.
“I was honored to host the AMAs last night and to work with some of the most respected writers in the business,” Hadid wrote. “I removed or changed anything in the script that I felt took the joke too far, and whether or not you choose to see it, what remained was done in good humor and with no bad intent. I too have been the center of a nationally televised comedy skit that poked fun at my actions and was able to find the humor in it. I believe Melania understands show business and the way shows are written and run. I apologize to anyone that I offended and have only the best wishes for our country.”
