34-year-old Azusa Sakamoto is Barbie's No. 1 fan. Since she bought her first Barbie lunchbox at the age of 15, her obsession has cost more than $70,000, as she's turned her Los Angeles home into a Barbie sanctuary. Aside from her 145 dolls, 40 pairs of shoes and 60 bags, Azusa also has Barbie cutlery, kitchenware, utensils, creams, and yes, even underwear. (Who knew you could have a Barbie-themed kitchen?!) Here's her take on her obsession.
OK, pink overload.
She told The Daily Mail: "If I was asked to choose between a man and my Barbie stuff I'd pick Barbie." But thankfully she doesn't have to, because her boyfriend "is really cool about my Barbie obsession," and fully supports her. {Um, where can I find a man who fully supports my brunch obsession? }
Take a look at some of her most over the top Barbie-themed Instagrams:
Yes, she's taken up Barbie nail art.
Here's a break down of exactly where that $70,000 has gone:
BARBIE DOLLS: $5,000
BARBIE TRIPS/CONFERENCES: $3,900
BARBIE CLOTHES: $23,000
BARBIE SHOES: $2,500
BARBIE BAGS: $6,500
BARBIE ACCESSORIES: $2,500
BARBIE HOME FURNISHINGS: $27,000
TOTAL: $70,000
To be clear, Azusa is not trying to be Barbie. She says, "I'm my own person and I have my own individual look, it's important to be yourself." We can definitely get on board with that!
