Bad News: Allegedly The Hit TV Show “Empire” Is Getting Cancelled!

The Hit TV Show “Empire” is apparently saying adieu to the broadcast waves after this season according to an insider from Media Take Out. The show first aired on January 7th, 2015 and has had 4 seasons so far.

Now it looks like it will only be 4 seasons. According to the insider with MTO, “So, I heard through the grapevine that as of now, they are finishing up shooting the last episodes Empire. As in the show will be ending soon.During the past few months, production and cast were frequenting a store that my relative works at and that’s who they heard it from.”

Media Take Out backed up the insider with additional hearsay from “Hollywood folk” who say that the show’s producer Lee Daniels is refocusing on another TV series Stars and will be “leaving” Empire once this current season is up.

It doesn’t make much sense that Empire will not be returning as it was the highest watched show last Wednesday during it’s fall finale episode. The episode supposedly had 6 million viewers tuned in!

The whole series centers around a hip hop artist and CEO of Empire Entertainment Lucious Lyon. Lucious is diagnosed with ALS and only three years to live leaving him with having to choose one of his three sons to manage his empire. Oh the drama!

His three sons all have their pros and cons for running the empire. Lucious’ favorite son, the youngest Hakeem, is a talented musician but values fame over the work it takes for true success. The middle son, Jamal, is talented and gay which is a source of embarrassment for Lucious. The oldest Andre is a business man without charisma leaving Lucious with a back and forth struggle of decisions.

Pair that with an ex-wife coming back into the picture to blame you for taking a fall for drug-dealing back in the day and you have yourself a complicated situation, Lucious! The show has had good reviews rating 83% on rotten tomatoes. We have to hand it to the writers!
The show is Fox’s No. 1 series so to end it doesn’t make a lot of sense. According to Deadline.com the show averages a 3.1 adults ratio 18-49 in Live+7 and 10.5 million multi-platform viewers. We would say that’s quite an audience!
Do you think the rumors of Empire ending are fact or fiction? We hope that Media Take Out proves to be wrong on this account.

The show’s music is definitely something to write home about. And no wonder, Timbaland was at the foundation of the show’s music helping with the first two season’s music compilations.

Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins and Esther Dean stepped in on the music after Timbaland left and we say that it’s still going strong! With a series built on a musical empire, the music artists have a lot to live up to and we think they do it justice.

The show has released albums from each season. It’s not too unlike from Fox’s other hit musical show Glee which made albums off of hits in the show.

In its first season finale, Empire surpassed Big Bang Theory as the highest rated scripted television series in the 2014-15 season. That’s some big kudos right there!

Time will tell whether the rumors prove to be true about Empire ending. We hope that for the 10.4 million viewers it’s not the case!
