JAY-Z has been threatened by George Zimmerman, the man who fatally shot African-American high school student Trayvon Martin in Florida in February 2012.
In the well-publicized case, Zimmerman was acquitted of second-degree murder and manslaughter, claiming he acted in self-defense despite Martin not possessing any weapons.
The case led to widespread protests across the US.
JAY-Z was threatened by Zimmerman after his production team knocked on his parents’ door as part of the research for JAY-Z’s new documentary series, Rest In Power: The Trayvon Martin Story.
The six-part series, set to be released in 2018, is produced by JAY-Z and based on the Lisa Bloom book Suspicion Nation: The Inside Story of the Trayvon Martin Injustice.
Telling The Blast that his family had been “harassed” yet failing to elaborate on the events, Zimmerman said: “Anyone who f—- with my parents will be fed to an alligator.”
He added: “I know how to handle people who f— with me, I have since February 2012.”
The threats have attracted the attention of Snoop Dogg, who posted about the events on Instagram.
“If one hair on jays hair is touched that’s when the revolution will b televised,” he wrote.
JAY-Z recently sent “peace and love” to estranged friend and collaborator, Kanye West.
Performing in West’s home city of Chicago, JAY-Z played a snippet of the Kanye track ‘Can’t Tell Me Nothing’ before making the Kanye shoutout.
