Why People Should Never Eat Anything after 7PM

Many of us have a habit of eating late at night, especially while watching movies or TV shows. While this may be enjoyable, we are actually putting ourselves at risk. Doctors have warned that eating meals late at night – that is, two hours before going to bed – can increase risk for heart attack and dying from it.
Turkish cardiologists studied more than 700 adults who are at least 18 years old to 65 years. These participants have high blood pressure. The purpose of the study is to determine if there’s a difference between what people eat and what time they eat.
The study looked at a number of indicators, but the most important were:
  • Types of food the participants ate throughout the day
  • Amount of salt consumed
  • Whether they ate breakfast regularly or not
  • Times the participants ate their evening meals

At the end of the study, the researchers discovered that those who ate dinner at a later time had significant negative impact on their overnight blood pressure. What is quite surprising is that the study discovered that eating your last meal of the day less than two hours before going to bed is much more dangerous than eating salty foods.

The study therefore proved that the time people eat their meals is just as important as what they eat. This is why it is important to time each meal properly. A healthy diet involves eating healthy foods during breakfast and lunch, while making sure that the last meal of the day is a light meal. Additionally, dinner should be no later than seven PM, particularly for those who sleep at 10 PM.

Role of Blood Pressure in Chronic Diseases

Many chronic diseases, including strokes and heart disease, are caused by hypertension or high blood pressure. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), about 40% of people with hypertension were at least 25 years old. Around the world, there were almost one billion people with this condition in 2008.
When we sleep, our blood pressure decreases by 10%. However, if we eat too close to bedtime, this puts our body in alert mode, which means that there is a very high chance that the blood pressure will not drop overnight. Unfortunately, this increases the chance of heart attacks considerably. This phenomenon is known as non-dipper hypertension, which is actually lethal.
You’ve probably heard about not eating after seven for weight loss reasons. But this time, this rule can also be applied for health reasons.
