Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan Jr. posted a triumphant selfie on social media Wednesday, telling his constituents he beat cancer for the second time in recent years.
Hogan, a Republican up for reelection in 2018, posted the photo showing two distinct scars on his scalp where he was treated for a type of skin cancer.

The governor, 61, said his refusal to use sunscreen while working as a lifeguard for six years when he was younger likely contributed to the skin cancer diagnosis, according to WTOP.
Since taking office in 2015, Hogan kept the public informed of his previous diagnosis of non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma.
Formerly known for having a full head of white hair, Hogan polled Marylanders after losing much of his hair to chemotherapy as to whether to keep his bald look or work to regrow his locks.
The Baltimore Sun reported at the time that the consensus appeared to be that Hogan do whatever he felt comfortable with.
"Go with what you like," one resident said.
Throughout his battle with cancer, Hogan has appeared to keep an upbeat outlook, joking to the Maryland Reporter that he "hate[d] to mess with this beautiful face" by getting the skin cancer treated.
