Drake Beats Adele’s Billboard Awards Record

He did it! Drake surpassed Adele’s record at the 2017 Billboard Music Awards on Sunday, May 21, when he picked up 13 wins.

The British singer, 29, previously set the record in 2012 with 12 top honors. Drake, 30, officially took the lead when he won the Top Artist category during the Las Vegas event at the T-Mobile Arena on Sunday night.









“I got my whole family up here,” he said during his acceptance speech. Drake also won in the Top Male Artist and Billboard 200 Album (Views) categories.

Other big winners of the night included The Chainsmokers, Blake Shelton, Kenny Chesney, Twenty One Pilots and Beyoncé, who was not in attendance. Queen Bey, who is pregnant with twins, was the guest of honor at a baby shower over the weekend.

The clip kicks off with Carey sitting in a car full of festively wrapped gifts with Corden as he thanks her for helping him with his holiday shopping. "What would you want for Christmas?" he asks the Grammy winner.
 

"I don't know. I don't want to ask for something too expensive or too nice. I want you to sing my song," she says.

After she sings the opening bars of the 1994 hit, the scene cuts to Adele in the car with Corden, followed by a galaxy of stars including Gaga, Demi Lovato and Nick Jonas, Selena Gomez, Gwen Stefani, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Chris Martin and Sir Elton John.

And these stars have almost as much fun singing the classic as you'll have watching it.

Keep an eye out for Lovato's cute moves, John's sweet kiss on Corden's head, and Adele and Gaga's attempts to out-do Carey as they hit the killer high note at the end of the song.

Adele's songs are usually about the pain of breakups and bad relationships. But an adorable and romantic moment at a concert Monday night shows that Adele's love life is anything but miserable these days.

Her longtime partner, Simon Konecki, surprised her with a love note on every piece of pink confetti, according to BuzzFeed.

The confetti at Adele's show usually is white, and features her song lyrics on every scrap of paper.

But on Monday night's concert in Nashville, Konecki decided to surprise her for their fifth anniversary as a couple. He replaced some of the white confetti with pink confetti, and replaced the song lyrics with heartfelt love notes.

As she performed "Rolling in the Deep," she turned to cheer on her band when she noticed the change. "We've got pink confetti tonight," she said, surprised.

Adele and Simon have a 3-year-old child together, and there may be more kids in the couple's future. Adele reportedly told a concert crowd Saturday night that she's getting sentimental now that her son is growing up. "My womb is starting to ache a little bit. It's like, 'Baby, baby, baby. Need a baby, need a baby,'" she joked. "I'm not pregnant. I won't get pregnant until the end of the tour."

With a long hiatus from touring on the horizon, Adele has started mapping out how she'll spend the time she's not using to focus on motherhood. Speaking to a crowd at her show in Boston last week, she reportedly said she intends to go back to school.
 "I'm desperate to go to university. I know that sounds ridiculous but it's one thing I really plan on doing," she revealed, according to the Sun. "I was about to start university in Liverpool in England and then I got offered a record deal, so I was like, 'Ugh, what do I do?'" she recalled before joking that she wouldn't mind landing a spot in the freshman class at a certain Ivy League institution. "I want to go and do a tour of Harvard but I don't want anyone thinking I'm smart enough to go to Harvard … I'm going to buy a T-shirt so I can sleep in a Harvard T-shirt." Gotta start somewhere!

Adele has a robust relationship with her fans and therefore she hate to disappoint them.

Adele had to send her love to Phoenix, since she wasn’t able to perform.

The “Rolling in the Deep” hitmaker was supposed to play a show in the Arizona city yesterday, August 17, but canceled last-minute due to health concerns.

At least the Brit superstar apologized with a perfect, makeup-free video.

"Hello everyone, specifically everyone in Phoenix and Arizona,” the 28-year-old said, clearly under the weather.

"I can't do my show tonight, my second show here,” she continued. “I'm really, really sorry.

“I've had a cold for a couple days, and I've been pushing through it and I did my show last night and I loved it, but I pushed too hard. And my cold has gotten the better of me.”

Adele revealed she had been trying to warm up all day, but “nothing was happening.”

The mom of one even made a good point, explaining, "As you can hear, even if I did the show, it wouldn't be very good.”  

At least the Grammy winner’s Southwest fans can expect a good show on the rescheduled date, Monday, November 21.

“I will come back and I will smash it for you,” she swore. “I'm really, really sorry, have a wonderful evening without me."

Adele’s next performance is at L.A.’s Staples Center on Saturday, August 20. Fingers crossed she’s back in good health by then!
