Man sparks outrage after he paints his face black to look like Samuel Jackson's character from 'Pulp Fiction' for Halloween

A London Underground passenger offended a racially sensitive woman after he painted his face black for a Halloween costume. The Central Line traveler had dressed up as Samuel L Jackson's character Jules Winnfield from the 1994 blockbuster film 'Pulp Fiction'. However, when the fellow traveler confronted him and accused him of being "racist" towards black people for his makeup, he shrugged and simply asked her: "Why not?"

22-year-old Petra-Isabella Joli, a model and IT manager from Surrey, captured the footage of the incident while she was traveling home on Saturday night. She then posted the video to her Instagram account, in which he explained to her that Samuel L Jackson was one of his favorites and "a person I like".

However, the outraged woman responded by saying: "I wouldn't try and be a black person." She then continued: "I think it's a bit racist that you put black make up on." But he reiterated: "It's a person I like, why not?"

In the post caption, Joli wrote: "I was on the Central line going home last night, where I witnessed the disgusting disrespect of blackface shown from this Bulgarian man. When confronted he claimed to have dressed up as Samuel L Jackson and responded saying 'why not, it's a person he likes'? This is 2018 and you're in London, don't expect people to sit quiet and not confront you."

One user said: "He should know the difference between appreciation and appropriation." While another added: "People are so easily offended nowadays."

Tens of thousands of people hit London clubs to celebrate Halloween four days before the actual event on Saturday, Daily Mail reports.

First-grade teacher who wore blackface to Halloween party under investigation by school board

A 32-year-old first-grade teacher from Iowa is reportedly being investigated for wearing blackface to a Halloween party. The teacher, identified as Megan Luloff, was dressed as LaFawnduh from Napoleon Dynamite for the occasion and was seen posing for pictures, wearing dark makeup in an effort to look African-American.

Blackface is the practice of wearing makeup and costumes by non-black people to appear as a person of color. The practice, which is seen as disparaging stereotypes, is strongly criticized by the Aboriginal community, civil rights, and anti-discrimination groups and activists.

Reports state Luloff, who teaches at Walcott Elementary School, covered her face, arms, hands, and feet with dark makeup. She was also wearing a leopard print blouse, white pants, and heels to the party which was held at the Walcott American Legion on Friday night last week, according to the Daily Mail. The teacher was seen posing for pictures with other smiling partygoers who did not appear to see anything amiss with her controversial choice of costume.

Davenport School District Superintendent Art Tate, while talking to the Quad-City Times, condemned the incident and said that "Blackface is never appropriate in any circumstance by any person." Vice president of the district's school board, Linda Hayes, told the news outlet that the teacher's decision to do blackface, and also sharing pictures of it online, is harmful to the minority students studying at the school.

"I cannot clearly articulate how offensive and appalling it is to people of color. In light of our recent developments within the district, this was in very poor taste, not to mention totally out of line with regard to professionalism," Hayes said.

The school district also released a statement saying that it will come to a decision about the teacher's employment at the school once their investigation into the incident is complete. “The district strives to provide a quality education enriched by our diverse community, in a fair and supportive environment for all,” the statement read.

“The images run counter to the respect, values, and beliefs the district promotes and should not be a reflection on the District as a whole," The Root reported. “This situation is not taken lightly by any member of the board. The district will determine how to best address the matter after further investigation," the statement added.

The news of the incident comes after NBC host Megyn Kelly faced heavy criticism for her controversial remarks about blackface for a Halloween costume. Kelly had reportedly stated that it was "okay" for white people to wear blackface when she was growing up.

Kim Kardashian is both defending and apologizing for her decision to dress up as the late singer Aaliyah for Halloween.

“Aaliyah was such an amazing singer and she will forever be a music legend,” Kardashian wrote on her website. “I saw online that some people thought my costume was in poor taste and I am truly sorry if that offended anyone.”

Some deemed Kardashian’s outfit, which was inspired by Aaliyah’s “Try Again” video, as “offensive” and “disrespectful.”

“When I was creating the costume, I wasn’t dressing up as a race or culture but rather as a woman whom I will always admire,” she continued. “I play every kind of genre of music in my home and I like for my kids to be exposed to many different artists.”

Aaliyah wasn’t the only legendary performer that Kardashian emulated for Halloween, with her other costumes including Cher, Madonna, and Selena Quintanilla.

“For me, it’s always about love and respect,” wrote Kardashian, noting that her son Saint went as Axl Rose and her sister Kourtney as Michael Jackson. “We don’t see color in my home. We were paying homage to people and artists we love and respect — it’s that simple!”

The bash was a success according to Beyoncé’s mama who told her Instagram fans she’d “danced all night!! great party, but my feet hurt.”

Beyoncé’s costume got the seal of approval from Sandra ‘Pepa’ Denton, from the original band, who tweeted her support saying “she killed it.”

The Knowles-Carter family are clearly fans of the 1980s because last year they threw it back to the era too, and dressed as characters from Eddie Murphy’s movie Coming to America.

Katy Perry transforming herself into Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton and boyfriend Orlando Bloom dressing up as a laughable Donald Trump, stole the thunder at Kate Hudson’s annual Halloween party on Friday (Oct. 28, 2016).

Perry, who is a big Clinton supporter, had her professional makeup artist team apply prosthetics to her face, turning her into the former Secretary of State. We think Clinton would be proud.

Perry even arrived to the event with secret service in tow and a friend costumed as Bill Clinton by her side. As for Bloom, his Trump was basically an oversized suit, tie, and giant, flame-red hair. Perfection.

Hostess Hudson went with an Old West look, along with her friends, wearing white corset gowns and feather hair pieces. “It’s time to party! Before we put the phones away we want to thank @absolutelyx for sponsoring us this year #elyx #skål #LetsDoThis,” Hudson, 37, said in an Instagram post.

Other celebs attending the party had a blast, including Jessica Alba, who went as Edina from Absolutely Fabulous.

With a sort of Day of the Dead vibe, Kylie Jenner hosted a decked out Halloween dinner party on Friday (Oct. 28, 2016) for guests, including her boyfriend, Tyga, and sister Kendall Jenner.

Naturally, the epic celebration was well documented on Kylie’s social media, showing her in full skeleton makeup and a sheer black floor-length gown with beading.

Tyga wore an all-black ensemble along with a totally awesome detailed skull face paint. Kendall showed off her long legs in a tight latex getup and sky-high lace-up platform heels.

There were also eyeballs floating in red liquid, drinks served out of skull glasses and even a way to imbibe with oversized syringes.
