Moms slam Target, Walmart for ‘hooker style’ shorts for tweens

Moms are taking to social media to call out Target and Walmart for their limited selection of girls' fashions.
One mom, who uses the name Assignment: Mom, shared a post of her frustrations with the Target department store chain on Facebook.

“Dear Target, You know I love you … but we need to talk about tween girls for a minute,” she wrote in a Facebook post that has earned over 6,000 reactions. “More specifically, we need to talk about what you’re offering them in the athletic wear department these days. It’s ridiculous.”
The Midwestern mom of four goes on to describe how she turned to Target to purchase athletic shorts for her nearly 10-year-old daughter, who is going to basketball camp.
However, instead of finding shorts for the girl to wear, the mom complained that all she could find were “teeny-tiny, itsy-bitsy, way-too-short shorts.”
“I get that shorts are, by definition, short. But where are the mid-length shorts? The approaching-knee-length shorts? The shorts that don’t require built-in underwear she’d undoubtedly find uncomfortable?” she vented.
Assignment: Mom, who is raising three daughters, said she tried the women’s department — but couldn’t find anything there, either.
“I don’t fancy myself a prude, but neither do I take the responsibility to teach my daughters about modesty and appropriate dress lightly. We live in a culture sexualized enough as it is; I wish I could go shopping for my tween and not have to worry about her backside or her underwear showing in a pair of athletic shorts,” she wrote on Facebook.
In the post, she said she ended up shopping in the boys' section for shorts for her daughter, and implored Target to "do better by our tween girls."
Assignment: Mom told told Fox News, “I have no ill will toward Target, and I know I’m free to shop elsewhere (and I do).” But she adds that she's “disappointed a store like that, where so many moms shop for necessities, doesn’t offer an alternative option for athletic girls who don’t wish to wear short-shorts for sports.”
And her grievances seemed to have struck a chord with many other parents who are equally upset by the limited options for young girls.
“Agree totally,” one mom wrote.
“My sentiment exactly,” another wrote.
But the frustrations did not end at Target. Another mom, Kate Paddock, said she’s experienced the same thing elsewhere.
“100 percent […] but it’s not just target[,] I went to like five places before finding Bella clothes[,] it’s ridiculous," wrote Paddock. "People are designing little clothes girls like hooker-style … yup I just said it and nope I don’t care who it makes mad.
"If you attempt to tell me by teaching my child modesty that I’m shaming her ‘body’ I’ll just delete you because I don’t care. Because what I’m actually teaching her is that she doesn’t need to flaunt what she has just to prove she’s worthy of value.”
Assignment: Mom told Fox News she didn’t expect the response, “as I was just expressing my frustration, and have been surprised at the chorus of moms agreeing.”
Another mom said she had the same thing happen at Walmart.
“I went to Walmart to get my toddler daughter a pair of shorts for soccer and ended up picking them up from the boys’ section. For my two-and-a-half year old! The ones in the girls’ section were all basically short tights, which she finds very uncomfortable.”
"We offer three types of shorts for girls: short, midi and Bermuda. Over the last few years, we’ve actually been going longer, not shorter … this is the case even with our short shorts. We lengthened them over a year ago and have seen a very positive response to the range of length, particularly with midi and Bermuda. We’ve also expanded our offerings in these assortments."

This Mom Is Defending Her 3-year-old daughter's love of makeup after social media slammed her

A 3-year-old makeup guru has been gaining quite a following on her Instagram account – but not all of the attention has been positive.
Liriana discovered her love of makeup early in life.
“She has always loved doing her makeup ever since she was about 2 years old,” her mom, Suella told Yahoo Beauty.
“She loves to copy everything that I do,” Suella said. “Literally everything has to match with me: our outfits, makeup, hair! It’s so funny and she’s been this way since she was, like, 1 and a half.”
Suella said Liriana usually asks to put some music and “just starts to play” with the cosmetics.
To show off Liriana’s incredible makeup prowess, Suella said she started recording the tot doing “her own makeup from start to finish.”
“I started to record her doing her makeup for my family,” Suella told Yahoo Beauty. But when the mom shared a video of Liriana perfectly applying glittery eyeshadow, blush and swiping mascara across her lashes on social media, it quickly reached viral status with over one 400K views.
Suella was initially excited by the attention her daughter’s passion was receiving.
“Especially when HudaBeauty reposted her video and we were all so excited,” she said, “and then when I was reading some of the negative comments, I just wanted to explain myself, that nothing that they were saying was true!”
Many of the comments applauded the little girl’s abilities – makeup artist Huda Kattan said of the video, “OMG she’s such a cutie.”
Other supportive comments poured in, saying, “She does wayyyy better makeup then me.” And “She’s gonna be a pro.”
However, Liriana’s pastime has stoked some outrage on Instagram because of her age.
“Too young for this … poor kids … they don’t know what is real childhood,” one person wrote.
Another wrote, “Too young to be doing that. Toxic chemicals in that makeup that she’s rubbing directly into her eyes. Where the heck are her parents?!”
One particularly lengthy comment suggested a different hobby would be more age-appropriate, “[S]he is so young to be interested in makeup to this extent. She needs to have another interest like drawing, swimming, or playing piano to take her mind of[f] makeup. And when she becomes a teenager she can obsess about make up. However, for now let her live her childhood because it will never come back. Please stop encouraging their parent to give them makeup and video-shoot.”
Suella has learned to brush off the negative comments, saying, “I’m not going to please everyone and I understand that, so I’ve learned to ignore them and appreciate the people supporting my daughter’s page.”
But she still wants those who criticize her to know “this is all for fun” for Liriana.
“My daughter does not wake up and put makeup on. She just loves to play with it from time to time and I have no problem allowing her to do it because we’ve all done it,” she said to Yahoo Beauty. “I don’t think any mother would bring that negativity to their child; this is all for fun.”
“It’s a little kid playing,” she continued.

25-Year-Old Woman Gives Birth To A Baby From An Embryo Frozen In 1992

Age really is just a number for Emma Wren Gibson.

She was born on Nov. 25, but from an embryo that was frozen on Oct. 14, 1992.

Carol Sommerfelt, embryology lab director at the National Embryo Donation Center, thawed out the “Emma-bryo” on March 13.

New mother Tina Gibson admits being shocked when she discovered she’d be carrying an egg about as old as she is.

“Do you realize I’m only 25? This embryo and I could have been best friends,” Gibson told CNN when Emma was born.

Little Emma is believed to be the oldest known frozen embryo that came to successful birth, beating the previous record holder, who was 20 years old at the time of birth.

But Tina Gibson, who has turned 26 since the birth, has other priorities than world records.

“I just wanted a baby. I don’t care if it’s a world record or not,” she told CNN.

Tina and husband Benjamin live in eastern Tennessee and got their fully fertilized embryo from the National Embryo Donation Center in Knoxville.

It’s a faith-based organization that helps wannabe parents by supplying frozen embryos that won’t be used by their genetic parents, according to WBIR-TV.

So far, the NEDC has enabled nearly 700 pregnancies, including Tina Gibson’s.

“Emma is such a sweet miracle,” Benjamin Gibson told the station. “I think she looks pretty perfect to have been frozen all those years ago.”

Dr. Jeffrey Keenan, who performed the embryo transfer, hopes the story inspires parents who might be saving embryos to donate to the cause.

“We hope this story is a clarion call to all couples who have embryos in long-term storageto consider this life-affirming option for their embryos,” he said in a news release.

3-Year-Old Boy From Australia Thinks Tampons Are Batteries

One little boy from Australia got very creative when his toy car ran out of juice. “My son just found the ‘batteries’ in my makeup bag,” the 3-year-old’s mom, Heather Leroux, captioned a post on the Today Facebook page.
3-Year-Old Boy From Australia Thinks Tampons Are Batteries

In the accompanying picture, Leo’s toy McQueen car is seen turned upside down with two tampons shoved inside. And they fit perfectly!

Heather told U.K. paper The Sun that she was hesitant to replace the batteries because she was worried Leo would take them out and play with them. “For a few weeks now I’ve had to tell him I can’t replace the batteries and we’ll have to get more,” she explained.

That’s when Leo decided to take matters into his own hands. “While I was cooking, he took it upon himself to got through my gym bag, empty my makeup bag and play with my foundation,” she told the paper. “All of a sudden he screams and says, ‘Mummy look I found the batteries!’”

When your 8 year old sister makes a makeup tutorial and sees a pad for the first time...what better use?😂
Leo isn’t the only kid making headlines for misusing feminine hygiene products. An 8-year-old recently incorporated a pad into her makeup tutorial — and her sister shared the clip to Twitter on July 31. It has since been retweeted more than 16,000 times. “She actually inspects it so seriously. I’m dying,” wrote one user. Added another: “It’s my new beauty blender.”

How A Child's Brain Can Be Transformed By A Parent's Touch- Research

A baby wants to be held, hugged, carried and touched from the day it was given birth to.  A parent’s tender touch does a lot, from promoting a baby's healthy growth to developing the baby's brain later on in life, a new research proposes.

For various animals, touch is a powerful communicator of feelings, a beacon of a bond from parents to their babies . To an infant, a parent’s affection can be as essential as milk, as the newborn primates in Harry Harlow’s remarkable tests in the 1950s revealed to us when they hold on to a soft dummy although their milk came from another place.

So many years following the popular monkey love tests, scientists in Singapore and Germany  utilized brain imaging to verify if receiving a lot of affectionate touches changes the human brain in any fathomable way.

“We investigated if the fondness parents show on their kids has consequences exceeding human bonding and alters functional features of the growing brain,” scientists Annett Schirmer, Jens Brauer,  and their associates noted in a research issued in the August edition of Cerebral Cortex.

The scientists gathered around forty kids of about age 5 and their mothers, then asked each mother and their kid to play with the Playmobil Farm toys in a time frame of about 10 minutes. The scientists observed and computed the number of times each mom touched their child and how frequent the child touched their moms.

A few of days later, the scientists examined the brain of  each child while she or he was at rest to understand its activity designs. Their focus was on the “social brain” ---which means , the amount of neuronal networks that enable people to relate with a person individually than we do with, for instance , an orange. It is what is at play when we act socially when we are curious about other individuals and try to see life through somebody else’s perceptions.

Scientists saw that brain movement across these networks was powerful for children who get plenty physical attention from their parents.

It is relatively improbable to undeviatingly authenticate a cause-and-effect relationship connecting a touch and brain development in human beings (scientists can not deny a baby of parental affection to see what happens), but studies involving animals  insinuates such a causal connection exists, Schirmer said.

The new investigations were taken from one piece of time in the kid's lives, though it is possible that the more tactile moms have perpetually been that way, and have continued to boost this brain improvement since their children were given birth to.
“We can only hypothesize that this is the fact. However, our studies carefully adjust to facts from non-human mammals,” Schirmer said. “Therefore if what occurs in humans connects to what occurs in mice, then yes, the function of the body and the functionings of the social brain are being altered throughout the development by the quantity of touch children receive.”

“Take note, nonetheless, that touch is apparently one of many things in a baby's conditions that develop social functioning,” Schirmer added.

A tender, loving touch enters the brain via a set of nerve networks in the skin named c-tactile afferents. Some experts think this special collection of nerves has developed in social species, from rats to humans, and may be essential in the development of the social brain. These nerve fibers, identified later than  temperature-sensing  and pain nerves, react best to slow  strokes and touch. They are seen often on the back of the body and seems not be present on the palms of humans. When stimulated by slow soft touch, the nerves causes a  monument of hormonal outcomes in the brain, animal studies postulates.
Harlow’s monkeys upturn a general school of thought in the beginning of the 20th century that sees unconditional affection as damaging to a baby's usual mental health and upbringing. We now understand that as a proper-papered social class of mammals, man is born with a brain longing to seek and develop social bonds.

However, some social capabilities many of us do not take so serious, such as the capability to visualize another person’s perspective and thoughts , do not even begin manifesting  until about the age of  four or five. This implies that the social brain we began with nevertheless needs more  years of learning, from the time of  birth to  the time of adolescence,  and until when we are to fully grown.

“Touch is an essentially primary caretaking behaviour that can have substantial advantages for our children,” Schirmer stated. “If newborns and young kids seek tactile compassion from their parents, their parents should lovingly satisfy them.”

I Really Wanted To Be Wonderful Dad and Here Is How. PART-1

What  is the issue with to a guy who dread fatherhood ? He feels there is a big challenge in it. Young men growing up always wonder if they could meet up to the task. Most are afraid and that is why some men delay their marriage up till when they are fully ready to accept responsibilities of a dad. But should a man just be waiting for eternity till the coast is clear, I do not think so. From other experienced dads, I have gathered this piece of information for you and as you read it below; you will see it's pretty easy to be a great dad.

10 Attributes That Will Help You Be  wonderful Dad Below:

1. Do not fret about being a wonderful dad.
To be a wonderful dad is not  about carrying  the child just right on your arms, or knowing how to burp the baby , or being a willing participant at imaginary tea parties. Being a wonderful dad begins with being a wonderful husband. It begins with becoming  entangled in the whole prenatal process; therefore if you actually desire to be a great dad, do make certain you are a great husband since excellent husbands become excellent dads.

If there is one item your baby desires, it's a loving, stable family and home. Strive to make your matrimonial home stand on a solid rock. Then the wonderful dad's thing will manifest, I guarantee you.

2. Strive to relish your regular pre-child life as early as practicable.
Many first-time parents completely get terrified when they become a father or a mother for the first time, and they do not go out of their home for a couple (1-3) years since they are fearful of what could befall "the baby." Of course, it is  a baby and  not nitroglycerin.Following a number of past weeks after having your baby,  you can go out and begins to come back to your normal you and to the normal routine of your wife as soon as you wanted. DON'T YOU FORGET-- babies are tiny and move surprisingly fast.

Take your infant out to brunch with you, bring them  with you on tour, shopping, trips, on airplanes, and as well as wherever you like to go prior to the baby arrival (alright! never take the newborn to wild parties---I believe you get the idea). The moment you discern that you ae somewhere, doing normal things with the tiny baby going on just excellent, you will understand that despite the fact some circumstances are absolutely changed now, you could still do many of the stuff you generally do. As you begin to do normal tasks, a lot of stress might be taken of you both, and provide you the opportunity to be close to each other like  a couple anew, not a pair fastened to the apartment 24/7, which can be strangely energy sapping in and of the whole thing.

3. Allow mommy to have some time for herself.
See!, I might be exaggerating if I said to you that in a baby's season, the daddy is as valuable as the mommy. Meanwhile, when it regards to worrying about a baby, and intuitively understanding what to do with an infant, women possess the market trapped, including living as a mommy is a much more arduous task than living a daddy. That is why it is very essential that you provide the mommy  with so many breaks that you can give her as possible. She requires time for herself too, yet she is so muffled up in living as a mom, she apparently will not rest sufficiently enough to worry  about and for herself.

The biggest thing you could do is allowing her to take breaks. Mind the infant for some time as she snoozes, plus you could have your wifey  to go see her female friend, maybe if your wife's mother lives close nearby, let her take some time off to visit her mother. Also if she just needs to go to the market, or go watch a movie with her friends at the cinema, it is good you create time for your wife to do this. Even though she didn't request it but she needs it (more than even she acknowledges) and this will grants you some incredible time with your infant. An essential role of being a fabulous daddy is being a fabulous husband, and a fabulous husband gets sure his wifey does not get stressed out  living as a mom 24 hrs a day.
