Saban Has responded to comment suggesting Hurts might transfer

Alabama coach Nick Saban says he had a ''very positive meeting'' with the father of quarterback Jalen Hurts after a recent scrimmage.

Saban responded to a Bleacher Report article Thursday where Averion Hurts said if his son didn't win the starting job, ''he'll be the biggest free agent in college football history.''

Hurts and Tua Tagovailoa were expected to battle for the starting job this spring. Tagovailoa has been limited by a broken finger in his left, throwing hand.

Hurts has led Alabama to a 26-2 record as the starting quarterback but struggled in the first half of the national championship game. Tagovailoa replaced him and completed a comeback with the winning touchdown pass in overtime against Georgia.

Saban says the situation is ''going to be handled in a very private manner.''

Swiss tennis star and world No 2, Roger Federer has just won his sixth Australian Open title, including becoming the first man to win an astonishing 20 Grand Slam title.

The 36-year-old defeated his opponent Croatia's Marin Cilic in five sets 6-2, 6-7, 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 in three hours and three minutes to achieve the milestone in Melbourne this afternoon.

Federer has now drawn level with world No. 14 Novak Djokovic on six Australian titles.

He is also the first man and fourth person in history to hit the twenties in Major singles titles, joining women tennis stars Margaret Court, Serena Williams and Steffi Graf.

Cam Newton Trash-Talk A Packers Defense Before Throwing TD Pass

Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton called his shot during the first quarter of Sunday's game against the Green Bay Packers at Bank of America Stadium.

With roughly six minutes to play in the opening frame, the Carolina offense lined up at the Green Bay 7-yard line.

Newton noticed something in the Packers defense, and he talked some trash before receiving the snap.

"You’ve been watching film, huh?" he said to an opponent while flashing a smile. "That's cool. Watch this."

The 2015 NFL MVP then connected with running back Christian McCaffrey for the contest's opening score:

Controversial NBA star, Colin Kaepernick named the recipient of Sports Illustrated's legacy award

Colin Kaepernick is carrying on the legacy of Muhammed Ali, according to the Ali family and Sports Illustrated.

The controversial NBA quarterback has received the 2017 Sports Illustrated Muhammad Ali Legacy Award, an honor awarded annually to athletes who demonstrate "the ideals of sportsmanship, leadership and philanthropy" and who use "sports as a platform for changing the world."

Sports Illustrated Executive Editor Stephen Cannella says "there will never be another Ali, but few athletes have followed his example as fully as Colin Kaepernick".

Kaepernick, who hasn't played in 2017, famously kneeled during the singing of the National Anthem before a 2016 pre-season game as a form of protest for the treatment of black Americans, particularly by police. While his decision to protest has brought more awareness to racial inequality in the U.S. and gained support from many NFL players, he's received a heavy dose of criticism from people who believe he's disrespecting the flag, military and police.

Conor McGregor vs Floyd Mayweather Jr. Boxing Match Slated For August 26 - Details Inside

Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Conor McGregor has been signed for Aug. 26 in Las Vegas, Mayweather and McGregor both confirmed on social media. The fight will air live on pay-per-view.

Kevin Iole of Yahoo! Sports was the first to report the news. MMA Fighting has yet to confirm the venue for the fight and neither McGregor nor Mayweather mentioned it in their respective social media posts. 

UFC president Dana White said Wednesday on SportsCenter that the fight will take place at T-Mobile Arena and be contested at 154 pounds. Both fighters will wear 10-pounce gloves, White said.

The hotly debated boxing match will mark the first time that a current UFC champion challenges a boxer in a boxing match.

The fight, which will be sanctioned by the Nevada Athletic Commission, will be a professional boxing match, meaning if Mayweather wins, he'll be the first boxer to have a perfect 50-0 record. It is expected to be the most anticipated “mixed” fight since Muhammad Ali vs. Antonio Inoki in June 1976.






Mayweather Jr. (49-0), considered one of the greatest boxers of all time, announced his retirement from the sport following a September 2015 win over Andre Berto. However, he said recently that he was only interested in returning to action for a fight against McGregor.

McGregor (0-0 in boxing, 21-3 in MMA), the current UFC lightweight champion, has never competed in a professional boxing match, but he is considered one of the best mixed martial artists in the world. He made history in November when he defeated then-lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez to became the first fighter in UFC history to be a champion in two different weight classes at the same time. Since then, though, the UFC stripped the Irish-born fighter of his featherweight title due to inactivity.

Mayweather, 40, and McGregor, 28, have been flirting with the idea of fighting each other for almost a year, but things seemed to heat up after McGregor defeated Alvarez at Madison Square Garden late last year.

For a while, though, the super fight appeared to be nothing more than a pipe-dream, but McGregor remained steadfast in his desire to challenge the undefeated boxer.

“It’s the fight to make,” McGregor said in January. “It’s the fight the people want. It’s the fight I want. I know I’m confident going in there.

“I’ve got the reach. I’ve got youth. I’ve got the confidence. I’ve got the unpredictable style. You can’t prepare for a style like me. A guy said to me, why conquer one world when you can conquer two? So I’m going to go conquer two worlds.”

In March, while in attendance to support fellow Irishman Michael Conlan in his pro boxing debut, McGregor erupted on the boxing media sitting ringside.

“No one in this boxing game knows what’s coming,” he said. “Trust me on that. When I step in there, I’m going to shock the whole goddamn world. Trust me on that. Look me in the eyes. Twenty-eight years of age, confident as a motherf*cker, long, rangy, dangerous with every hand.

“Trust me, I’m going to stop Floyd and you’re all going to eat your words. The whole world is going to eat their words.”

While his purse has yet to be announced, McGregor is expected to make more for this one fight than he’s ever made in his career. Details of the deal have yet to be announced.

It’s unclear at this time how much the pay-per-view will cost or who will fight on the undercard.

The Nevada commission approved the Aug. 26 date for a Mayweather Promotions card Wednesday during its monthly meeting. At the time of the meeting, it was not fully known that it would be for Mayweather vs. McGregor.

Usain Bolt Reveals Which Player Made Him To Be A Die-Hard Fan Of Manchester United FC

It is not secret that Usain Bolt, the world's fastest man, is a diehard fan of 13-time English Premier League champions, Manchester United. Bolt has always expressed his love for the Red Devils and has visited Old Trafford as well as United's training complex in Carrington.


The Jamaican sprinter in a recent conversation with Yahoo Sport revealed how he began supporting Manchester United. Bolt said he was fascinated by United's prolific striker, Ruud van Nistelrooy. The Dutch striker played five seasons for United, from 2001 to 2006. In 159 appearances, Van Nistelrooy scored an impressive 95 goals.





“[Ruud] van Nistelrooy played for them. I was like, ‘I like this guy. He’s cool. He’s very good.’ And I just started supporting him,” Bolt revealed. However, Bolt does not recollect who Manchester United were playing the first time he watched them play, on TV.

Van Nistelrooy was one of the best strikers who played for the Red Devils, and it is easy to see why Bolt would have been attracted to the Dutchman's playing style. During the 2002/03 season, van Nistelrooy created a club record when he scored 44 goals in a single season. Following his incredible run of form, he was named as the Premier League player of the season in 2003 as well as being named the best striker in Europe by UEFA.


In the 2003/04 season, Van Nistelrooy also became the first player to score in 10 consecutive Premier League matches. It took 12 years to break the record when Jamie Vardy scored in 11 consecutive Premier League games during Leicester City's title-winning campaign last season.


Bolt also remarked how it could have been some other team he ended up supporting, instead of Man United, had van Nistelrooy been playing for some other team, or if Bolt had watched any other team's best striker.

“The funny part about it is that it could’ve been any team. It could’ve been Sunderland. It could’ve been Newcastle,” Bolt said.

Most recently, the 30-year-old became the first athlete to win the ‘triple triple’ – the 100m, 200m, and 4x100m Relay gold medals in each of the three Olympics (Beijing 2008, London 2012, Rio 2016) he has featured in.

Such is the love that Bolt has for Manchester United that he has time and again opened up about wanting to play for the Manchester-based club while giving up his athletics career. The love has been reciprocated by the Red Devils when they gave him his own shirts with his 100m World Record and 100 m Olympic Record on their backs.

One can only imagine how it would be if Manchester United had procured the services of the fastest man in the world. If Bolt had taken up football at an earlier age, who knows what would have ensued. A long cross-field pass from Paul Scholes to a sprinting Usain Bolt. Imagine that. If only.

Simone Biles Responds To Drug-Testing Leak After World Anti-Doping Agency Database Has Been Hacked

Simone Biles has spoken out after Russian hackers broke into a World Anti-Doping Agency database and leaked her confidential medical data. 

The hackers, who go by the name Fancy Bear, revealed records for “Therapeutic Use Exemptions,” which allow athletes to use banned substances for valid medical reasons. According to ABC News, the leaked documents showed that Biles has tested positive for the ADHD drug methylphenidate (commonly know as Ritalin), but it wasn’t illegal because the International Gymnastics Federation approved her use of the medication.

The gymnast, who took home five medals (including four golds) at the Rio Olympics, addressed the situation on Twitter on Tuesday, September 13, by opening up about her condition. “I have ADHD and I have taken medicine for it since I was a kid,” she wrote. "Please know, I believe in clean sport, have always followed the rules, and will continue to do so as fair play is critical to sport and is very important to me.”

She added in a follow-up tweet, “Having ADHD, and taking medicine for it is nothing to be ashamed of nothing that I’m afraid to let people know.” 

USA Gymnastics also issued a statement on Twitter, confirming that the gymnast didn’t break any rules. “In keeping with official protocols of the U.S. Anti-Doping Association and WADA, Biles submitted and was approved for a therapeutic-use exemption (TUE), the proper paperwork for any medications that an athlete takes for an illness or condition that requires the use of a medication included on the WADA Prohibited Drug List, for prescribed medication(s) she takes,” the statement said. “By virtue of the TUE, Biles has not broken any drug-testing regulations, including at the Olympic Games in Rio."

Other athletes targeted in the hack include tennis players Serena and Venus Williams and basketball player Elena Delle Donne.
