Chris Brown was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon after a standoff with the Los Angeles Police Department, a police spokesperson confirmed.
The R&B star and police were in a nine-hour standoff at the singer’s home in Tarzana, California after a woman called police Tuesday morning around 3 a.m. PT, alleging Brown threatened with her a gun, according to the Los Angeles Times.
The woman, Baylee Curran, told the Times she visited Brown’s home with a friend. Curran said Brown cursed her out and pointed a gun at her after admiring some jewelry. Curran told theTimes she left the house and waited by the gate for her phone, which had been confiscated before she entered. A man in Brown’s party told Curran she could have her phone back only if she signed a non-disclosure agreement, but she grabbed it from him and fled to Brown’s neighbor’s house, where she hid under an SUV, she told the Times. The neighbor called the police, according to the Times.
While police awaited a search warrant outside Brown’s house, the singer posted three videos to Instagram criticizing law enforcement. “Every three months y’all come up with something,”Brown said. “At the same time when I call the police for stalker people that are endangering my life, they don’t come until the next day.”
He continued: “I ain’t did s—, ain’t gonna do s—. It’s always going to be f— the police. When you get the warrant, you can walk right up in here, you’re gonna see nothing, you idiots. … You’re the worst gang in the world.”
Brown eventually met with police outside his home. After police obtained a warrant, they searched the premises as well as people who were at Brown’s home, according to the Times.
Brown has had multiple run-ins with the law. He was arrested in 2009 for attacking his then-girlfriend Rihanna and ultimately pleaded guilty to felony assault. He punched him four times in the face and neck during a meeting in May. Brown said in a since-deleted Instagram video that Guirguis was fired for allegedly stealing money from him.
