Elizabeth Smart is speaking out against pornography nearly 14 years after her horrific abduction.
The man who held the Salt Lake City native captive regularly looked at pornography during her nine-month captivity.
“He would just sit and look at it and stare at it, and he would just talk about these women, and then when he was done, he would turn and look at me, and he would be like, ‘Now we’re going to do this,” she said in a video by Fight the New Drug, an anti-porn group.
Her abductor, Brian David Mitchell, took the then 14-year-old from her bed and held her captive in a campsite only miles from her home.
He would rape Elizabeth multiple times a day and continually tortured her, even forcing her to drink so much alcohol she passed out. Thankfully, in March 2003 she was recognized and rescued, returning safely to her family.

"Looking at pornography wasn't enough for him. Having sex with his wife after looking at pornography wasn't enough for him," she said.
"I can't say that he would not have gone out and kidnapped me had he not looked at pornography. All I know is that pornography made my living hell worse."
Since returning home, Elizabeth has worked tirelessly to mend the damage done by her captor and credits her Mormon faith for helping her through the dark times.
