Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith have battled endless not-so-nice rumors about their marriage, including divorce speculation and claims they have an open relationship.
The pair has denied each and every accusation —until now.
Will has reportedly admitted to needing couples counseling during a rough patch with his wife of 19 years.
“I’ve done a lot of marriage counselling,” the notoriously private actor tells Brit tabloid The Sun. “What happens in a marriage once you do counselling, the truth comes out.”
The duo’s truth doesn’t exactly sound sunny.
“You sit across from your wife and you’ve said all of your truth and she has said all of her truth,” the 47-year-old continues.
“You look at each other and you can’t imagine you could ever possibly love each other again.”
The Suicide Squad actor admits that kind of honesty “creates a dark moment,” although it’s not as awful as it seems.
“But for me it’s the dark before the dawn,” the dad of three adds.
“I think that’s the cleansing before you get to the other side that is understanding and moving forward in our relationship.”
After years of denials, it’s shocking Will decided to be so open about his relationship problems out of the blue. But it’s nice to know all couples need a little help now and then.
