Nick Gordon probably should have hired a better lawyer than himself.

A judge handed down the surprising verdict after Nick skipped his own court date for the non-criminal proceedings.

A motion hearing was scheduled for this morning, September 16, to deal with the wrongful death lawsuit filed by Bobbi’s estate last year, the local NBC affiliatereports.
For whatever reason, Nick did not appear for the Atlanta county superior court date, despite being his own attorney.
Because the celebrity boyfriend was a no-show, anything claimed by the Brown estate is branded true by the law.
The civil case’s judge, T. Jackson Bedford, didn’t respond well to Nick’s apparent disrespect, especially since the 26-year-old had failed to appear once before in court.
“I do not like people thumbing their nose at the court,” he reportedly said, before deeming Nick “legally responsible” for Bobbi’s death.
Bobbi’s estate — which includes her father Bobby Brown as a conservator — is pleased with the decision.
“The court agrees with us, by striking Mr. Gordon’s answer that he is legally responsible for her death,” R. David Ware, the estate’s lawyer, declared.
“The only thing left to prove is the value of her life.”
Although a jury will determine the final damages, the estate requested $50 million when they filed the lawsuit.
Bobbi K. died July 2015, months after she was found unresponsive in the home she shared with Nick.
