On the heels of Taylor Swift's breakup with Tom Hiddleston, another one of her exes—Calvin Harris—is speaking outagain about his relationship with the "Blank Space" singer. If you remember, the Scottish DJ went on a pretty fiery Twitter rant against Swift in July after news broke she had a hand in his hit song "This Is What You Came For" (a fact that was supposed to stay hush-hush). Harris addressed everything in that rant, from Swift's then-blossoming relationship with Hiddleston (how ironic) to alluding that "Bad Blood" is about Katy Perry. He also included the upside-down smiley emoji, so you know he meant business.
But Harris' words about Swift this time around are slightly less toxic. (That doesn't make them any less telling, though.) In a new interview with British *GQ*, Harris (the magazine's new Solo Artist of the Year) opened up about how the media firestorm surrounding his breakup with Swift was too hot for him to handle.
"It's very difficult when something I consider so personal plays out very publicly," Harris told the glossy. "The aftermath of the relationship was way more heavily publicized in the relationship itself. When we were together, we were very careful for it not to be a media circus. She respected my feelings in that sense. I'm not good at being a celebrity."
It was the breakup, which Harris described to British GQ as "all hell" breaking loose, that led to his barrage of questionable tweets earlier this summer. So, how does he feel about those messages two months later?
"Now I see that Twitter thing as a result of me succumbing to pressure," he said. "It took me a minute to realize that none of that matters. I'm a positive guy."
Here's hoping this ongoing Harris saga also leads to a Swift pop smash in 2017. We need to dance after all of this drama.
