"Mariah Who?" Never Really Been a Fan of Mariah Carey -- Miley Cyrus Said It

In the October issue of Elle, cover star Miley Cyrus touches on a lot of important topics such as doing her own makeup, her relationship with Britney Spears, why she’s done with red carpets, and when she had her her most recent “growth period.” Miley also talks about what it’s like to be a coach on The Voice, a gig she took on over the summer. For one thing, Miley’s not a fan of sad contestant stories. “It’s like, if you’re going to have someone win because of their story, go write a screenplay about your life,” she says. “On The Voice, I try to steer away everyone who comes in here with an idea of what ‘the voice’ means, which is that you’ve got to be the pitch-perfect singer.”

Miley also explains a comment she made to a contestant about how not everyone can be Mariah Carey. She tells Elle, “I’ve never really been a fan, because it’s so much about Mariah Carey. That’s part of her shtick; I can see through that.” According to Miley, what makes her different from the ~elusive chanteuse~ is Mariah has always been “about what she’s wearing, and it’s about her. What I make isn’t about me. It’s about sharing my story; it’s about someone being connected to what I’m saying.”
I guess the only thing left to do is wait for Miley and Mariah’s respective fan bases to decide whether or not any shade was thrown here. A light discussion has already started on Twitter.

Perhaps the reigning queen of shade will issue a response of some sort. But you’ll have to look extra hard at anything that comes from Mimi, who most recently took on the Kardashians without even mentioning their name during an interview.
