Bella Hadid participated in her first Victoria's Secret Fashion Show this week and absolutely slayed. Obviously, she looked amazing—all of the Angels did—but Bella also embodied ex-girlfriend goals when she sashayed down the runway looking flawless in front of her new ex-boyfriend, The Weeknd, who happened to be one of the night's musical performers.
While the run-in momentarily broke fans' hearts, many were left wondering what was Bella really thinking in that moment. And now, thanks to an Instagram post—the first time Bella has spoken out about the breakup on social media—we know that Bella was not actually shunning her ex, crying on the inside (at least, she didn't admit to that), or angry about having to see him. She had nothing but love for him and the Victoria's Secret family that made her dreams come true.
"I was smiling SO HUGE on the inside I promise!!!!" Hadid captioned the image of her on the runway with Abel Tesfaye in the background. "Thank you @theweeknd for being the best and most incredible performer on the planet. You KILLED it, as always," she continued, pairing the comment with some sweet emojis.
The 20-year-old model also called the experience "fun and nerve racking."
The Weeknd hasn't responded publicly to the comment — he's only posted subtle mentions about performing at the fashion show thus far. (But you know we'll be waiting by our phones to see if he likes Bella's post.)
Bella Hadid and Abel Tesfaye broke up earlier this month; they ended their year-and-a-half-long relationship due to scheduling conflicts.
The model also told E! News before the show in Paris that she was totally OK having to work with her ex. "There is no awkwardness," she said. "He is my best friend, and I am excited because I am walking during his performance." If only we could all be so chill.
