When certain liquid-eyeliner-loving celebrities leave the house without their signature cat eye, we feel slightly unsettled. Not that they look bad (as if that's possible). It's just like our brains need a little time to process and adjust.
Take our latest example, Khloé Kardashian, one of the world's leading makeup maximalists. Her eyes are usually not only lined in black liquid but lined all the way around and winged way out. Add full contouring, a couple faux lash strips, and a full palette's worth of eyeshadow, and you have an average day's makeup for this reality star. Yesterday, though, she changed things up with a more natural daytime look, courtesy of makeup artist Hrush Achemyan—and we're not going to lie, the results have us a little bit hypnotized.
"Natural Vibes with @khloekardashian for interviews today," Achemyan wrote on Instagram, posting a shot of Kardashian looking gorgeous in a noticeably different way. A triple-take reveals the lack of a cat eye–or any perceptible eyeliner at all—feathery, softer lashes, yet still dark, dramatic brows. While the cumulative effect is definitely a bit more natural than usual, we'd actually say "runway vibes"—something about the increased focus on her brows and her model-off-duty hair have us feeling like we're backstage at Fashion Week. But wait: Stare some more, and you'll even see shades of Beyonce. Crazy, right? Is this Instagram actually a hologram sent to destroy what remained of our productivity on this summery Friday?
Whether you prefer Khloé K's more low-key look or her usual full-on glam, you'll probably want to know about the $7 drugstore mascara she swears by. Because if anybody can teach us a few new things about the power of makeup, it's this one.
