Pub gives customers a massive discount if they agree to follow one very strict rule during their visit (video)

Going out for a meal with family, friends or your better half is a lovely treat.

You get to tuck into some lovely food, have a proper catch up and the best part is you don't have to wash up.

But unfortunately most of us will admit to sometimes not giving that quality time our full attention, as we're easily distracted by our mobile phones.

Whether its messaging other friends or checking social media, it can be very tempting to have a quick look.

But staff at one pub are so fed up of seeing their customers glued to their phones they've come up with a clever trick to tempt them away from their screens.

The Fat Boar in Wrexham, north Wales, is offering people 25 per cent off their food if they lock their phones away in a box on the table. They then have to hand the keys over to staff for the entire duration of their meal.

Restaurant manager Jade Darlington told Mirror Online: "We all see people sitting together at tables, waiting for their food without talking and looking at their phones.

"I think we all feel a certain amount of pressure to be constantly checking emails, social media, texts and all the other messaging on our phones.

"But if we can do something to encourage people to put their phones down and concentrate solely on one another and the fun night out they are having with us, then I think that’s a really positive thing."

Hundreds of people have already expressed their interest in visited for Mobile Free Monday.

Director Rich Watkin, who came up with the idea, said: "I am the first to admit that I am constantly glued to my mobile phone.

"We all have busy lives and they can be a fantastic way to keep in touch with everything we need to run our hectic schedules.

"But I couldn't help but think it would be nice to encourage some of our loyal customers to make the most of an evening out with us and escape from all the constant 'bing bing' of information which these little devices throw at us.

"Mobiles can often be a real distraction and stop us from just sitting among family and friends and simply having a good conversation and that’s why I came up with the idea."
