Amy Schumer Fires Back At People Who Said She Is Too Fat To Act Barbie

Go girl! Amy Schumer wants her body shaming trolls to know she doesn’t care what they think.
The 35-year-old comedienne fired back at the critics who branded her too fat to play Barbie, after it was announced she was in talks to play the iconic role in the upcoming movie.

Schumer took to Instagram on Tuesday, December 6, and posted a photo of herself wearing a black swimsuit, and gave the snap a lengthy and poignant caption.

“Very very honored to be nominated for 2 Grammys and to be considered to play an important and evolving icon,” she wrote.”Is it fat shaming if you know you're not fat and have zero shame in your game? I don't think so. I am strong and proud of how I live my life and say what I mean and fight for what I believe in and I have a blast doing it with the people I love. Where's the shame? It's not there. It's an illusion.”
Schumer continued: “When I look in the mirror I know who I am. Im a great friend, sister, daughter and girlfriend. I'm a badass comic headlining arenas all over the world and making tv and movies and writing books where I lay it all out there and I'm fearless like you can be.”
She then praised the fans who have stood by her, and said she actually feels sorry for the people who attacked her.
“Thanks to everyone for the kind words and support and again my deepest sympathy goes out to the trolls who are in more pain than we will ever understand. I want to thank them for making it so evident that I am a great choice. It's that kind of response that let's you know something's wrong with our culture and we all need to work together to change it.
“Anyone who has ever been bullied or felt bad about yourself I am out there fighting for you, for us. And I want you to fight for yourself too! We need to laugh at the haters and sympathize with them. They can scream as loud as they want. We can't hear them because we are getting shit done. I am proud to lead by example. ”I say if I'm beautiful, I say if I'm strong. You will not determine my story. I will"#thegirlwiththelowerbacktattoo”
As IPRESSTV reported the live-action flick will focus on the iconic blonde getting kicked out of Barbieland and having to survive in the real world.
It’s scheduled for release by Sony in 2018.

Amy Schumer To play ‘Barbie’ in Movies

Amy Schumer is in negotiations to play the title role in Barbie, the live-action Sony Pictures film based on the venerable Mattel toyline. The PG movie will begin production in the spring for a global summer 2018 tentpole bow, after Schumer puts her imprint on the Hilary Winston script, doing a rewrite with her sister Kim Caramele. Given her edgy stand-up comedy and her movie breakthrough writing and starring in the R-rated Trainwreck, what makes Schumer the right actress to play the embodiment of a beloved toyline that for years featured a doll with impossibly perfect physical proportions? Aside from the fact that she has Barbie hair, Schumer’s growing stature as a role model for female empowerment fits perfectly with how the film will exploit Barbie’s evolution into dolls of different sizes and shapes.

Schumer will play a character who lives in Barbieland, among all of the various Barbie characters beloved by doll collectors (there are dolls covering over 180 careers). In a fish-out-of-water story reminiscent of films like Splash and Big, Schumer’s Barbie gets kicked out, basically because she’s not perfect enough, is a bit eccentric and doesn’t quite fit the mold. She then goes on an adventure in the real world and by the time she returns to Barbieland to save it, she has gained the realization that perfection comes on the inside, not the outside, and that the key to happiness is belief in oneself, free of the obligation to adhere to some unattainable standard of perfection. Mattel, with a lot at stake since the toyline has generated $3 billion in sales, signed off on the take.

While Sony, and the film’s producers — Walter Parkes & Lori MacDonald (who won the rights from the toymaker in 2014), and Amy Pascal (who bought the project as Sony Pictures chairman before joining as producer) — worked on numerous drafts by top female writers for several years, this one came together like a bolt from the blue after Winston and the producers cracked the code with a funny empowerment take that sparked the interest of Schumer and made her want to fit it into her crowded movie schedule. Sony chief Tom Rothman brought the script to Schumer personally, and pitched the take to her. After she read Winston’s script, Schumer emailed that she was in. A deal is now being finalized.

The studio will now lock in a director, and the clear intention is that the filmmaker be a woman. Word around Hollywood is there is a short list of directors including Me Before You helmer Thea Sharrock (who is apparently unavailable for the slot), but it’s a big job and the studio expects to fill it shortly.

Schumer, who wrapped an untitled Jonathan Levine-directed comedy for Fox and the Jason Hall-directed DreamWorks drama Thank You For Your Service, also co-wrote with Jennifer Lawrence a script they will star in together. She is repped by UTA and Maverick Management’s Guy Oseary and Carrie Byalick at B, and attorney Isaac Dunham.

Goldie Hawn and Amy Schumer parody Beyoncé's 'Formation' and It's Awesome (VIDEO)

Amy Schumer jumped on the Lemonade parody train with her latest music video, “Get In Formation.”
Schumer teamed up with Goldie Hawn to parody BeyoncĂ©’s “Formation” music video. In the video, the two can be seen in a forrest trying their best to mimic the original “Formation” video’s choreography.
The comedian isn’t the first person to parody Queen Bey. On last week’s episode of Saturday Night Live, the cast recreated the singer’s “Sorry” music video in a skit titled Melanianade. The Late Late Showhost, James Corden, also parodied the visual album months ago with a spoof titled LemonJames.
Amy Schumer’s “Get in Formation” can be watched exclusively on TIDAL. Watch the sneak peek below.

Amy Schumer Fans Walk Out of Her Show in Florida After Schumer Blasts 'orange monster' Donald Trump

Hundreds of Donald Trump fans have walked out of an Amy Schumer performance in Florida overnight after the comedian's show turned political.
Members of the audience booed and heckled Schumer as she turned to Donald Trump's history of sexual assault, calling him an "orange, sexual-assaulting, fake-college-starting monster", and targeted Republicans in the crowd.
According to the Tampa Bay Times, more than 200 members of the audience walked out of the show which became increasingly hostile as Schumer talked about her affiliation with Hillary Clinton and how Trump's behaviour had upset her personally as a victim of sexual assault.

The 35-year-old comedian threatened to kick out Republican audience members if they kept booing and interrupting the show, and told them to leave if they didn't like what she was saying.
"I know you're here to laugh, but you know what, you choose your life, you choose the way you want to go in your life, and it's just too important," the comedian said in a video captured by an audience member.
"So we're going to spend five more minutes talking about it and if you don't like it you can go to the bathroom or you can leave."
At one point, Schumer dragged a Republican supporter on stage and made him justify to the 9000-strong crowd why he didn't support Clinton.
"Do you get worried at all with how impulsive he is?" she asked the man. "Do you worry he'll be impulsive and get us in a lot of f---ing trouble we can't get out of?"
In a powerful statement, Schumer, an outspoken survivor of sexual assault, raised the house lights and asked all the women in the audience who had been sexually assaulted to stand up.
Tampa Bay Times critic Jay Cridlin noted: "I counted four in the first half of my section alone".
Several members of the audience who walked out told the Times they didn't come to see Schumer get political and claimed the segment went on for too long.
Said one man: "I don't want to hear that. We wanted to have a good night without distractions with the politics."
"The show became political. I definitely didn't come to hear this," echoed another.
In a statement to Vanity Fairafter the show, Schumer was unapologetic.

"I loved the crowd and my show in Tampa last night! I want to thank the 8400 people who stayed. We had a great time. We have always depended on comedians to make us laugh and tell the truth. I am proud to continue that tradition."

Amy Schumer Responds to Writer's Rape Comments in New Interview

In an interview with Charlie Rose airing today, Amy Schumer expands on her response to the deeply offensive rape comments made by comedian Kurt Metzger, who had previously written for her show. (His remarks about sexual assault and victim-shaming aren't worth an embed, but you can read them here if you're so inclined.)

'I want them to not attach me to what he's writing," Schumer, a sexual-assault survivor, said to Rose. "I would love to refocus the energy and the attention on the real problem. It's about rape. He baits people. He's the problem, no question, but the focus is on him rather than on what the real main problem is."
Measured but meaningful—well done. Watch the preview here.
