Girl of 11-years-old Gets Cosmetic Surgery Because people are use to bullying her 'Elf Ears'

When facing off against bullies, some children and parents are going under the knife.

As was the case for 11-year-old Bella Harrington, who underwent pediatric cosmetic surgery in December because she says bullies at her school were tormenting her about her protruding ears.

“They would always point it out, but then the more people pointed it out is when I wanted to change it,” the Virginia pre-teen told local affiliate WRIC. “I thought that they stuck out way too much.”

Bella and her mother Sabrina made the decision to finally silence the bullies after years of considering the procedure, known as an otoplasty, which pins back the ears.

“When people would ask if I would like to go swimming in the summer I’d be scared they’d show,” Bella recalled about getting teased.

“They were being mean, saying different things,” Sabrina said. “One thing they said, she had elf ears.”

Dr. Joe Niamtu, who practices in Midlothian, performed the surgery, calling it his “biggest reward” to help students like Bella.

“It was my honor to help this beautiful young lady to escape the effect of peer bullying from her protruding,” Dr. Niamtu said on Facebook. “Even small facial deformities can produce very negative psychological consequences in childhood that can lead to a lifetime of low self-esteem and negative body image. My biggest reward.”

In fact, he told WRIC that the younger the patient is the better the outcome and it is not uncommon for children as young as 4 years old to go under the knife.

“We like to treat these children before they enter school, so it’s not uncommon that I’m doing 4- or 5-year-olds,” Dr. Niamtu said, adding, “And the reason is bullying or peer pressure. It’s been shown to psychologically to have the ability to affect their self-esteem or body image for the rest of their life.”

Now two months after the surgery, both Bella and Sabrina are overwhelmed with the positive results.

“I was so happy,” the child said, remembering the first time she saw her new ears. These days, Bella puts her hair up often and is not “focused on if people can see” her ears.

“It’s no different than getting braces, that changes your appearance,” Sabrina said. “If it’s going to make you feel better about yourself, so be it.”

Bullies Fat Shame Woman For Her Active Wear – Brand Hears About It And Steps In

You just can’t win with some people. You’d think that people who despise others who are of the larger size would be happy to see companies encouraging them to engage in a healthy lifestyle by making exercise clothing they can actually fit into right?

Nope. You just can’t win with these people.

Some people are just too blinded by their hatred and are set on being hateful and negative like one man who criticized Academy Sports and Outdoors’ recent campaign for plus-size activewear.
“This is disgusting you are making being fat a good thing people should be ashamed of being fat not proud,” said one angry person on social media.
The man made the comment on model Anna O’Brien’s Instagram page where she posted a photo of herself that appeared in Academy Sports and Outdoors’ campaign.

“For many people when starting a fitness journey, a sporting goods store is the first place they think to buy workout gear,” O’Brien said on Instagram. “Imagine what happens when a plus size woman does just that, and finds nothing in her size? An opportunity to find joy in movement is lost. I am so happy Academy recognized this need and is now providing affordable plus options in store and online at academy.com.”

O’Brien ended up having to explain to some of her haters why their comments are counterproductive.
“[H]i Matt. I’m the woman in this photograph. I wanted to let you know that comments like this don’t help people be more active,” O’Brien said, according toYahoo. “If anything they make people fear judgement and opinions when working out. If you genuinely want to encourage a plus size person to be more active, try cheering them on more and discussing your uncomfortableness with their body less.”

The activewear company also jumped in to have to have their say.

“Hi, James, at Academy, we truly believe every woman should have the same opportunity to enjoy sports and the outdoors. As a result, we will continue to represent a wide range of body types. We’re all different, but our access to an active lifestyle shouldn’t be.”

And there were way more fans that had O’Brien and Academy’s back than the angry and hateful people in the comments. We’re glad that there are people out there who speak up so that the voices for kindness and encouragement can be heard louder.

Paris Jackson Instagrammed an Emotional Online Bullying Video Complaining of Her Struggles With Bullying.

Paris Jackson is opening up about her struggle with online bullies.
The daughter of the late Michael Jackson posted a video on Instagram about how hateful online commentators can be, which she later deleted.
She sobbed through the video as she talked about her personal experiences, which pushed her into a suicide attempt.

“When I was 14 I got so much hatred that I tried to kill myself,” she said through tears.
“And then I took a two-year break from social media and people asked me to come back, to make my Instagram public again. So I did and nothing changed.
“I don't understand how there can be so much hatred in the world right now.”
The 18-year-old went on to admit she even tried blocking the hateful commentators and avoiding reading their comments altogether, but to no avail.
“I've tried sticking up for myself, I've tried the whole blocking the haters thing, not reading the comments.
“I've tried, I've tried a lot of things, ignoring it, but it's hard. It is, when there's so much of it," she continued.
“And I don't get why I'm such an easy target. I try to be nice to everybody that I meet. I give everyone a chance. I'm usually a very trusting person.”
Paris then spoke directly to her social media followers and fans and pleaded with them as to why they continue to bully her.
“I try to be open with you guys about what I do on a daily basis, I share my life with you, I don't hide a lot, I'm very public.
“So I'm sorry if there's something that I'm doing that you guys don't like. Maybe I'm too public? I don't know. I'm just tired of it, I'm just really, really tired.”
She concluded the rant by calling out all the bullies who have ever hurt her or others, while still holding back tears.
“I mean, we're human beings, man. We've got hearts, and brains, and feelings, and when you say damaging things like that to people, it f—s them up.
“It really f—s people up when you do that and I don't know if that's what people want, but it's exhausting, really and truly, it's really exhausting.”
Although Paris deleted the devastating video soon after posting it, it must have triggered some emotions in others who flooded her comments with uplifting words.
“I want you to remember every moment that we will always love and support you, and that we don't search you and appreciate just because you're Michael Jackson's daughter but especially because we love the real you,” Instagram user m_unapazza_97_j wrote.
“I envy you and so do countless other people in this world. Dude you're soooo awesome. There is a lot of hate but there is a lot of love!!!!!” user __shawtayy added.
We think you’re awesome too, Paris!
