Roseanne Barr Says She Was Labeled a Racist Because She Voted for Donald Trump

Roseanne Barr is claiming she was labeled a racist because she voted for President Donald Trump in the 2016 election.
On Friday, the 65-year-old actress released a video on her YouTube channel, in which she addressed her firing from the now-canceled Roseanne reboot and shared her official statement about her exit.
“Hi, this is Roseanne Barr and I’d like to welcome you to my own studio where I’m able to speak for myself to my fellow and sister Americans without the filter of the biased media,” Barr began.

“This was my statement from the very beginning and it will continue to be forever because it is the truth. When ABC called and asked me to explain my ‘egregious and unforgivable’ tweet, I told them: ‘I thought Valerie Jarrett was white.’ And I also said, ‘I’m willing to go on The ViewJimmy Kimmel or whatever other show you want me to go on and explain that to my audience,’ ” explained Barr.
Barr continued: “Now, instead what happened was about 40 minutes after that, my show was canceled before even one advertiser pulled out and I was labeled a racist. Why you ask? Well the answer’s simple: it’s because I voted for Donald Trump and that is not allowed in Hollywood.”
Her statement comes not long after she released a clip titled “Roseanne explains the Valerie Jarrett tweet.” In the video, Barr, who is launching her own YouTube show, looks disordered and distressed as she smokes a cigarette while arguing with a male producer about the editing of a previous video — one that was apparently cut together from multiple shoots and showed Barr wearing different outfits.
Soon, the agitated star brings up the since-deleted tweet.
“I’m trying to talk about Iran! I’m trying to talk about Valerie Jarrett about the Iran deal. That’s what my tweet was about,” Barr screamed.
“I thought the bitch was white!” she said, getting even louder. “Goddamnit, I thought the bitch was white. F—!”
ABC canceled the Roseanne reboot in May following series creator Barr‘s controversial tweet about Valerie Jarret. In the since-deleted tweet, Barr likened Jarrett, a black former advisor to Barack Obama, to an “ape.”
“Roseanne’s Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values, and we have decided to cancel her show,” president of ABC Entertainment Channing Dungey announced in a statement.
Following backlash from the tweet, Barr first appeared repentant, claiming that she didn’t know Jarrett is black and that she was on Ambien while tweeting.
The star also defended herself from accusations of racism. “I’m not a racist, I never was & I never will be,” she tweeted in May. “One stupid joke in a lifetime of fighting 4 civil rights 4 all minorities, against networks, studios, at the expense of my nervous system/family/wealth will NEVER b taken from me.”
She later explained that her tweet — which described Jarrett as a cross between the Muslim Brotherhood and Planet of the Apes — was actually commentary on anti-Semitism.
“Rod Serling wrote Planet of The Apes. It was about anti-semitism,” Barr tweeted. “That is what my tweet referred to – the anti semitism of the Iran deal. Low IQ ppl can think whatever they want.”
Since her firing two months ago, Barr said that she will not be participating in any TV interviews.
“After a lot of thought, I decided that I won’t be doing any TV interviews, too stressful & untrustworthy 4 me & my fans,” she tweeted July 9. “I’m going to film it myself & post it on my youtube channel in the next week-the entire explanation of what happened & why! I love you all-sign up & get ready.”

Notable Hollywood Executives Launches Anti-Sexual Harassment Commission Chaired by Anita Hill

The recent convening of leaders was organized by Kathleen Kennedy, Maria Eitel, Nina Shaw and Freada Kapor Klein

Kathleen Kennedy’s proposed industry commission to combat gender inequality is coming to fruition, we have learned.
Two dozen top entertainment executives have come together to form and fund the Commission on Sexual Harassment and Advancing Equality in the Workplace, which will be chaired by Anita Hill. The attorney and Brandeis law professor was one of the first whistleblowers on sexual harassment, when she testified against Clarence Thomas during his 1991 Senate confirmation hearing for the Supreme Court. She sits on the boards of directors for the National Women’s Law Center and the Boston Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights, and has also chaired the Human Rights Committee of the International Bar Association.
“I’m proud to be leading this newly-formed Commission on a long overdue journey to adopt best practices and to create institutional change that fosters a culture of respect and human dignity throughout the industry,” Hill said in a statement. “We will be focusing on issues ranging from power disparity, equity and fairness, safety, sexual harassment guidelines, education and training, reporting and enforcement, ongoing research and data collection. It is time to end the culture of silence. I’ve been at this work for 26 years. This moment presents us with an unprecedented opportunity to make real change.”
In mid-October, when the revelations of sexual misconduct in the industry were still largely confined to allegations against Harvey Weinstein, Kennedy used her speech at Elle’s Women in Hollywood event to call for a multi-disciplinary commission, funded by the industry, to implement protections against sexual harassment and abuse in Hollywood’s workplaces. The Lucasfilm president, along with Nike Foundation founder and co-chair Maria Eitel, Del Shaw partner Nina Shaw and venture capitalist Freada Kapor Klein, subsequently invited top entertainment leaders to a meeting where they unanimously agreed to establish and fund the commission, which will reconvene early next year to define its mission, scope and priorities.
“The Commission will not seek just one solution, but a comprehensive strategy to address the complex and inter-related causes of the problems of parity and power,” Kennedy said in a statement. “The fact that so many industry leaders – across film, television, music, digital, unions, agencies, ATA, AMPAS, television academy and guilds – came together, in one room, to explore solutions speaks to a new era.”
The meeting to form the commission was attended by:
  • Ari Emanuel, William Morris Endeavor co-chair
  • Bob Iger, Disney chairman/CEO
  • Bryan Lourd, CAA co-chair
  • Carol Lombardini, Alliance Motion Picture and Television Producers president
  • Chris Silbermann, ICM Partners managing director
  • David Young, Writers Guild of America executive director
  • Dawn Hudson, Academy Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences CEO
  • Gabrielle Carteris, Screen Actors Guild/AFTRA president
  • Jeff Blackburn, Amazon svp business development
  • Jeff Shell, Universal Filmed Entertainment Group chair
  • Jeremy Zimmer, UTA CEO
  • Jim Gianopulos, Paramount chair/CEO
  • Karen Stuart, Association of Talent Agents executive director
  • Kevin Tsujihara, Warner Bros. chair/CEO
  • Maury McIntyre, Television Academy president/COO
  • Mike Miller, Motion Picture & TV Production/IATSE 4th international vp/department director
  • Russ Hollander, Directors Guild of America executive director
  • Sir Lucian Grainge, Universal Music Group chair/CEO
  • Susan Sprung, Producers Guild of America associate national executive director/COO
  • Ted Sarandos, Netflix chief content officer
  • Tony Vinciquerra, Sony chair/CEO
  • Julie Greenwald, Atlantic Records chair/COO

Donald Trump Jr. Made Jokes Out Of Weinstein Scandal

Because Harvey Weinstein has long used his money and bigscreen sway to prop up prominent Democrats, conservative pundits are rejoicing a victory, a victory of #principles. After allegations of sexual misconduct by Roger Ailes, Eric Bolling, Charles Payne, Bill O’Reilly, and Donald Trump, there’s one down for the other team!
Donald Trump Jr. has been jumping up and down on moral high ground all weekend via a thoroughly-punctuated rampage. “I can’t wait for the Oscar’s!!!” he screamed to the world on Sunday morning and carried on throughout the day.

No hypocrite is spared: Hillary Clinton, Michael Moore, late night talk show hosts, even including a little spar on Saturday night with Jimmy Kimmel who, when asked, called the scandal “disgusting,” to which DTJ replied “Great I look forward to your monologues next week. You’re probably due for a change if only for a moment or two.” To which Kimmel supplied a video of “grab her by the pussy,” which ended that. Around the same time, Donald Trump Sr. began suggesting that he, Trump, should get equal airtime with talk show hosts.

There are more, of course. Rob SchneiderJames Woods, and Ann Coulter (shower joke 123) hold Hollywood’s feet to the furnace.
So do a handful of Hollywood people, though institutions like SNL and Weinstein’s “media enablers” remain disturbingly silent, and it’s been reported that writers like the New York Times’s David Carr had been trying to tell the story for years without a willing publisher.
But Seth Rogan has tweeted his support for all the women who came forward, Judd Apatow criticized Weinstein’s “times were different” excuse, and prominent actresses are tweeting that Hollywood needs to be more vocal. Nathan Lane said on Saturday night that Harvey Weinstein threw him against a wall at a Clinton birthday party after Lane poked fun at Rudy Giuliani’s combover, according to Page Six.
On Friday, the former editor of The Hollywood Reporter Janice Min told the New York Times that there are many more Weinsteins to come. “I can guarantee the second that story hit yesterday, several men called their attorneys,” she said. The lesson is that in every news story there are winners and losers, the losers usually being the women who came forward with their stories in the first place.

James Woods says he's blacklisted because he's conservative amid His retirement from Hollywood

Just weeks after James Woods said he was blacklisted in Hollywood because of his conservative views, the Oscar-nominated actor said he was retiring from the industry.
Woods tweeted this summer that he had “accepted the fact that” he was blacklisted from Hollywood because of his views. He has said being conservative has made it tough to find work in Hollywood the past few years.

Woods was a Hollywood favorite -- and a Democrat -- until at least 1998, when he broke ranks with the party after former President Bill Clinton's impeachment.
He said on Twitter that he switched parties because of his disgust with the former president.
"Every single #Democrat without exception stood behind a convicted perjurer," he wrote on Twitter this summer. "That was the end."
His luck in Hollywood turned sour soon after he became a Republican. He has not had a major role in a film in at least a decade.
The news of his retirement was included in a press release issued by Woods' real estate agent offering Woods' Rhode Island lake house for sale.

Allen Gammons said Friday that Woods is 70 and wants to relax. He says the actor's brother and mother recently died, and he hopes to spend more time on passions including photography, antiquing and poker.
Gammons said Woods' decision was not political.
The announcement comes after Woods was in a Twitter feud with actress Amber Tamblyn, who last month accused him of trying to pick her up when she was 16. Woods called it a lie. Gammons said Woods declined to comment Friday when asked about Tamblyn's accusation.
Woods has said there are many conservative stars who didn’t speak up because “the blacklist against conservatives in Hollywood is very real.”
