When Mariah Carey and her former fiance James Packer split in 2016, she demanded a huge amount of money for her troubles. A new reports says Mimi got multiple millions of dollars, but still far south of what she was asking.
The Blast indicates that Mariah and James struck a deal a few months ago in which Mariah got to keep her 35-carat engagement ring. She also got a few million dollars in the process. All and all, between the ring and the cash, Mariah is reportedly walking away with between $5 million and $10 million.
After Mariah and James' breakup in October 2016, the diva demanded that he pay her $50 million. At the time, she claims he got her to move from New York to L.A., uprooting her entire life, so he could be near his kids, TMZ reported. She said he also made "financial promises" to her.
On Oct. 27, TMZ quoted a Mariah source who claimed that James did "something awful" to the singer's assistant on a yacht in Greece, but didn't get specific.
"Mariah and James had a fight in Greece, and have not seen each other since," the diva's rep told Entertainment Tonight at the time. "The fight was not because of any cheating allegations or excessive spending by Mariah."
Mariah, TMZ said, was so traumatized that she had to cancel the South American leg of her tour, which also played into her $50 million request.
One of the few times Beyoncé and Mariah Carey were photographed together was at a 2004 Versace show. Go ahead—have a giggle.

But as of Sunday's run of Carey's "All I Want For Christmas Is You" spectacular, the world now has another, extremely rare pic of the two megastars. This time, a selfie.
The show leaves New York City on December 17, so nice of Beyoncé to stop by, eh? And Andy Cohen too, obviously.
Welp. Mariah Carey and her team certainly aren't doing anything to quell interest in the singer's relationship with the 33-year-old backup dancer she's had on her arm -- and lips -- during this last round of promotion for her new reality show.
In Bryan Tanaka's latest love-addled soundbyte, he tells E! News about his first interaction with Mariah way back when. "The first time we met we were actually in a rehearsal setting, a huge soundstage at Sony studios back in L.A.
And she walked in with a beautiful entourage and I was on stage already," he recalled. "Our first introduction was kind of a sweaty mess, because I was on stage sweating … she came out all looking gorgeous and everything. But it was great we said 'Hi' real quick and we got back to work.
He went on to cite the meeting as having been around 2005 or 2006. "I was a young buck, I was this green rookie when I first worked with her," he continued. Since then, Bryan added, "so many things have happened. … I grew up, I turned into a man and she's gone through so much." The drama! The romance! The press for "Mariah's World
On Thursday, many celebrities were sharing photos of their Thanksgiving celebrations on social media, but it was Mariah Carey whose holiday 'gram got extra attention. The singer posted a festive photo on Instagram of herself holding a pie and can of whipped cream while wearing a plunging lace-up bodysuit and skinny jeans.
"#Festivating!! #happythanksgiving 😘" she captioned the pic.
A few eagle-eyed followers noticed something was off though—like the distorted mirror up by her shoulder, and the warped cabinet by her right knee.
People quickly started calling Mariah out in the comments, pointing out these tell-tale clues and accusing her of some egregious Photoshop editing.
"That's got to be some of the worst photoshopping I've seen!" wrote one follower.
"Should the cabinet door and mirror bend like that?" another commented.
Others came to Mariah's defense, downplaying the doctoring and noting, instead, how happy she looks.
"Let her be she looks happy," wrote one fan.
"Who cares if it's photoshop," a different user commented. "Who doesn't fix there pics know a days... so let it go and move on or don't follow her simple as that👍👌"
It seems Mariah isn't letting the haters bring her down during her family time in Hawaii—she's still sharing pics as the holiday weekend continues and hasn't deleted the offending post, despite all the fiery backlash it's received. And why should she? We all know she isn't the first celebrity to get a little fast and loose with their Photoshopping, and she certainly won't be the last. So let's just listen to "All I Want for Christmas Is You" and resume our appreciation for her majesty Mariah.
Oh, hey there, lover boy! Mariah Carey’s rumored new beau, Bryan Tanaka, broke his silence about his relationship with the pop superstar during a Sunday, December 4, interview with E! News.
"I've always had a thing for Mariah. I love her so much," the 33-year-old backup dancer told E! News at the Mariah’s World premiere party at New York City’s Catch. "Just make sure you tune in to the show, and you'll see kind of how everything happens."
Tanaka, who has been dancing on and off for Carey since 2005, went on to explain that his moves have left an impression on the Elusive Chanteuse. "We've been friends for a long time," he added. "I do a little dance move here and there and we have a good time.”
The Washington native also told E! News that he hit it off with the chart-topping diva from day one, and that she recognized his potential.

"Something connected with us back in the day, and there was just a mutual admiration. She saw something in me that I actually didn't recognize at first, from that it was over,” Tanaka said. “It was set in history that we were gonna be connected some way, some how."
For her part, Carey is happy she reconnected with the handsome dancer on her Sweet, Sweet Fantasy tour. "It's really nice, especially when you've worked with somebody in the past and then you get to work with them again and just see how everybody's grown creatively and all that,” she told E! News on Sunday.
As viewers saw on the December 4 premiere of Carey’s new E! docuseries, Mariah’s World, Tanaka opened up about his longstanding friendship with the “Vision of Love” singer.
"It was about 2005–2006 is when I first met Mariah Carey. I was a young buck, I was this green rookie when I first worked with her,” he recalled. “I grew up, I turned into a man, and she's gone through so much. I think it's gonna take some time for us to get back to that comfortability where we were just homies, where we could just talk."
As previously reported, Carey — who called off her engagement with Aussie billionaire James Packer in October — packed on the PDA with Tanaka during a romantic beach date in Hawaii on November 28. The duo spent some quality time together at Maui’s Grand Wailea Resort after MC’s three shows in Honolulu.
“They were all over each other, making out and not wanting to be more than a few feet apart,” an eyewitness previously told IPRESSTTV of the pair. “They swam in the ocean and he picked her up to kiss her. She was jumping into his arms, and he bent her back over his knee like they were dancing. Then they walked on the beach holding hands, and he gave her a piggyback ride. They had a lot of fun together and were very playful. She was kicking up the water to splash him, and he was laughing.”
The moment we've (basically) been waiting our whole lives for has finally arrived. Yes, Mariah Carey has a docuseries. And yes, it’s exactly how you’d imagine it would be — and more. The fabulous pop diva’s eight-part event series, Mariah's World, premiered on E! Sunday, December 4, and it did not disappoint.
Mariah Calls Herself "Awful" While Dressed as Alter Ego
First of all, this show is bonkers. It started off with Mariah, dressed as dark-haired alter ego “Bianca Storm,” laying on a chaise lounge. She introduced the show in a British-sounding accent, saying, "I can’t describe Mariah.... The world doesn’t know how awful she really is." The episode then immediately cut to a shot of Mariah being pushed around backstage in a rolling chair, so she wouldn’t have to walk in heels. This show should win every Emmy.
She Does All Her Testimonials in Lingerie
We could go on and on about the ridiculous and hilariously over-the-top, glamorous things that Mariah did in this episode, but this article would literally be the length of a novel. Have you ever wanted to see Mariah jump off of a yacht while wearing a gown, diamonds and sunglasses? Do you like a documentary where the subject does every testimonial shot while wearing lingerie and lounging on a chaise in front of a grand piano? If the answer is yes, this is the show for you. Watch it every day of your life.
Mariah Hints at Her and Now Ex-Fiancé James Packer's Conflicting Schedules
The episode kicked off with a cameo from Mariah's now ex-fiancé, James Packer. She said of him, “My fiancé, James, has so many responsibilities.… It's not easy for us to spend every day together.” She then revealed that he was not staying with her on her yacht, but rather on his own yacht across the waterway. Guess a couple that doesn't yacht together, doesn't stay together!
Mariah Admits to Having a Lot on Her Plate
The episode followed Mariah as she prepared for her upcoming 25-country European tour, as well as her nuptials to the Australian billionaire. When consulting with her righthand woman, manager Stella Bulochnikov, Mariah confessed, “There’s a lot on my plate right now.” Stella responded, saying, “How are we gonna pull off a wedding on top of that? ... We have them colliding.” Thus, the seed was planted that Mariah may have to push the date of her wedding to accommodate her tour.
You Can’t Cry or Date If You Work for the Singer?
Stella interviewed a potential tour assistant, Molly Angany, to join the team. During their meeting, Stella said, “I have a rule. You’re not allowed to date for the first year working.… Also there’s no crying allowed.” Molly agreed but forgot to mention one pesky little fact — she already has a boyfriend. The drama!
Mariah Tries on Her Wedding Dress
We then moved on to a scene where Mariah tried on a wedding dress and mused about whether the groom would be allowed to see it prior to the wedding. She wondered, “Depends on what you feel like sticking to.” Mariah, not beholden to typical reality-show rules, proceeded to turn and look directly into the camera and narrate, “I found a wedding dress that I really love. It was made for me.” RIP, that wedding dress. RIP, the fourth wall.
Mariah Reconnects With Dancer Brian Tanaka, aka Her Current Beau
Things started to spice up with the meet-cute between Mariah and her current flame, Bryan Tanaka, back when he was just a backup dancer. Having not seen each other in a while, you could tell the chemistry was swirling when Mariah said, “Good to see you again.” OK, maybe that's a bit of a stretch — but still! The dramatic irony was riveting!
Tanaka introduced himself, saying, “It was around 2005, 2006 when I first met Mariah.… I think it’s gonna take some time to get back to that comfortability.” Considering they were photographed making out on the beach in Hawaii late last month, seems like they’re pretty comfortable.
Manager Says Mariah’s Prenup Is “Not Romantic”
Mariah made the difficult decision to postpone her wedding plans with James. She said to her manager Stella, “I don’t want to disappoint him, and I feel really bad.” After breaking the news over the phone, Mariah said dejectedly, “He’s waiting for me to figure it out.” Stella then revealed in a testimonial some juicy information that might be a sneak peak into why this union dissolved so quickly. Stella dished, “I’ve been dealing with this prenup, and it’s definitely not the most romantic thing I’ve seen read, [I'll] tell you that.” Whoa!
Mariah’s Tour Is Off to a Bumpy Start
The episode wrapped up with Mariah’s dramatic arriving three house late to Glasgow, Scotland. Mariah did not seem to be happy about her nanny accidentally packing her passport in a suitcase, causing the delay. As Mariah deplaned from her private jet, she admitted, “I’m very, very, very stressed about this whole thing.… We don’t have costumes, we don’t have a rehearsal.”
Can’t Sleep Without Her Apple TV
To make matter worse, Mariah’s new assistant, Molly, struggled to put together the star's Apple TV. Molly panicked while saying, “The Apple TV, that’s the most important thing.… If she can’t have the Apple TV playing while she sleeps, then she can’t sleep.” We truly felt the pure terror in her voice. Molly also cried, meaning in her first day of work she'd already broken both of Stella's rules. Guess we’ll have to wait until next week’s episode to find out if Mariah was ever able to sleep that night!
