My name is Ike Ronald. Admin thank you for creating this platform for people like us to air our problems. I am a Nigerian. As you know, we Nigerians place so much value on the cooking skills of our wives. This is what is it is before we were born and it is still the same even in this century. One of the greatest access to a man's hearts is by pleasuring his belle(getting his stomach filled with quality food). I am here to share my ongoing experience of the suffering am passing through at the hands of my wife. I got married to her five years ago and we are blessed with two kids for now.
Before we got married, she already told me she can not cook as their house help does all the cooking in their family house. Several times I told her that I have made up my mind to marry a woman who can sometimes cook for me because just the way I love eating my mother's food, I had love to eat my wife's food like that. She promises she will learn after we get married on the condition that I will teach her how to cook. As love will have it because love could sometimes really blind a man, I agreed to demand.
Please note that had I know that she was lying and pretending to hook me in, I would not have married her in the first place. Lest I forget, my wife is a beauty to behold. But as our marriage grew older, I discovered that beauty is not all that matters. PLEASE NOTE THE THE REASON A RELATIONSHIP BEGAN IS NOT ALWAYS THE REASON IT Last. In our 5 years of this holy matrimony, my wife has never cooked for me. She employed a maid to be doing the cooking. Even when she is on work leave to stay home a month, she would never want to enter the kitchen talk less of serving me food.
Now I am fed up because I am being tempted to fall in love with our house help. What she cooked are so delicious that I wish she was my wife. But do you know on several occasions, I have asked my wife to send this house help away. She asked me why and I told her that I can still teach her how to cook because I wanted to eat what she cooked. Just want to let you that my wife is a lecturer in one of Nigerian Federal Institution. Sometimes I have cooked for her and I have told her I wanted her to reciprocate such gesture. But she seems not to listen at all. I am worried about the future of my married. I wonder if she really cares at all.
I must confess I sometimes go home with my female colleague, who is single where I use to eat wonderful African dishes before going home. My female colleague does not know am married and I have not started having feelings for her but I am afraid I might do some day of which I don't want that to happen. I really want my wife to change. I don't know how to approach my wife on this matter without offending her. I don't want her to get offended and pack out of our marriage home. I don't want her to see cooking as if I am enslaving her. If a woman thinks her husband is enslaving her just to make her cook, does it mean I enslaved my mum all those years she cooks for me?
