Sorry, Angela Lansbury Fans. She Is Not Going to Be in The Game of Thrones Anytime Soon

Sorry, Angela Lansbury fans. The former star of Murder, She Wrote is not going to invade Westeros any time soon.
It’s been widely reported Lansbury might appear in season 7 of HBO’sGame of Thrones.
This is not accurate, the actress’ team told EW on Wednesday.

The rumor began over Labor Day weekend. The original source was a German website for tabloid newspaper Bild, which is described on Wikipedia as “notorious for its mix of gossip, inflammatory language, and sensationalism.”
And yet, despite the source, the idea of Lansbury on the show seemed credible to many. Thrones is full of British stage and screen luminaries, and Lansbury – an Honorary Oscar winner – certainly qualifies. The previous week EW had reported that fellow Oscar winner Jim Broadbent is joining season 7 in a “significant” role. And the Blid report described the 90-year-old Bedknobs and Broomsticksactress’ part as “minor,” appearing in two episodes. So perhaps Lansbury could trade barbs with Lady Olenna (Diana Rigg) in Dorne?
By Wednesday, “Angela Lansbury” was trending on Facebook and searching her name and “Game of Thrones” produced dozens of results on Google News. But this is one Angela Lansbury TV mystery that’s now been solved.
HBO had no comment on the matter. Thrones returns next summer.

Rumour Has It That Game of Thrones For Season Seven will Have Angela Lansbury

The Internet is atwitter with rumours Murder, She Wrote star Angela Lansbury is joining Game of Thrones for Season 7 — with jokes aplenty about what Westeros murder mysteries Jessica Fletcher could solve!
We hate to burst anyone’s bubble, but we’re thinking even the Master of Whisperers would turn up his nose at this gossip.

“Angela loves living in New York, but she said she would be willing to travel for a special TV or a film role,” a so-called friend told the Enquirer. “So Game of Thrones is a perfect fit for her!”
The tabloid also claimed Game of Thrones star Diana Rigg recommended the 90-year-old actress for a specific, two-episode part.
“She told producers, ‘You’ve got to get Angela for this,’” a source said.
Granted, it all could be true — and wouldn’t we be lucky to have a five-time Tony Award winner on the show! — but we wouldn’t wager our lives on it.
Game of Thrones Season 7 premieres on HBO in Summer 2017.
